Job Title: Designer III, Mechanical

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager, Mechanical or Director, R&D or Product Support Group

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Designer III, Mechanical is responsible for developing and maintaining, design, detailed drawings, and related specifications of equipment under the direction of an engineer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional & Technical Skills



  • Create conceptual layouts of machines, machine components, and systems to meet required specifications.
  • Prepares, checks, and processes Engineering changes to incorporate updated design to new or existing machines.
  • Design and develop complex mechanical systems, equipment, and products for industrial machinery.
  • Design for manufacturability and validate designs through analysis with input from engineers.
  • Coordinate own design efforts to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.


Operational Excellence



  • Maintain effective communication between departments and teams to support successful project releases.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate Degree in Design/Drafting

Experience: 5+ years experience with CAD modeling, detail drafting, and PDM systems.

Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software

This position requires successful completion of:
