The Sustainability Intern will support the implementation and advancement of project-related sustainability initiatives, including LEED certification and compliance with green building codes. This role works closely with project teams and reports to the Director of Sustainability and the Sustainability Engineer.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Research and stay up to date on LEED, other sustainability programs, and sustainable construction practices.
  • Assist in maintaining a database of LEED/sustainable projects and related information.
  • Attend project sustainability meetings (Preconstruction, Kickoff, Construction Progress) as needed.
  • Support project teams with sustainability certification documentation setup (e.g., plans, templates).
  • Guide teams through documentation requirements and provide training on reading and reviewing green submittals.
  • Assist in performing final documentation reviews before submission to third-party reviewers.
  • Continuously review and help improve internal sustainability documentation processes.
  • Assist in tracking progress on corporate sustainability action plans.
  • Help develop and promote field-level sustainability procedures.

Required Experience
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, or Architecture.
  • Coursework in sustainability or green buildings strongly preferred.
  • LEED AP BD+C credential is a plus.
  • Familiarity with LEED v4 design and construction credits and their differences across versions.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
