Requisition Summary
The Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for coordinating material availability by working closely with suppliers, customers, production, and internal teams to optimize inventory levels and control costs. This role involves creating and communicating PACCAR's forecast based on data-driven decisions to meet inventory goals. The position also supports the implementation and maintenance of SAP-based Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions, ensuring accurate and timely transactions. The ideal candidate is initiative-driven, detail-oriented, and skilled at collaborating across departments to support efficient materials management.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all Material Requirements Planning (MRP) settings within SAP ECC.
- Update, maintain, and improve material forecasts using demand trends and historical data.
- Develop and maintain dashboards using visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to provide actionable recommendations to management and team members.
- Optimize safety stock levels to balance inventory reduction with service level goals.
- Perform ABC analysis on materials based on cost and usage to refine planning methods aligned with departmental goals and plant productivity.
- Investigate root causes of material shortages and implement effective stocking strategies.
- Analyze Bills of Materials (BOM) from finished goods down to component levels.
- Communicate and coordinate changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies across multiple departments using data-driven insights.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the materials department utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Create and review material department metric reports to monitor performance.
- Support Project Coordinators with engineering change notifications (ECN) and new part forecasts based on estimated annual usage (EAU).
- Review inventory relative to remaining demand to prevent surplus and obsolescence.
- Oversee and reconcile EDI data transmission and receipt, ensuring compliance with PACCAR policies through regular system testing and audits.
- Support purchasing processes within SAP ERP, including management of blanket purchasing agreements and related EDI configurations.
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance EDI functionality and perform data analysis to resolve supplier and EDI issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 year of experience in material planning or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience using visualization software such as Power BI or Tableau.
