Nature of Work: The work of this classification involves conducting research, analysis, tracking, and utilization of tourism information for the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB). Work may include searching the internet for potential meeting/convention opportunities, analyzing competitive markets and cities, data collection, email marketing, databases, tracking bookings, identifying need periods and researching conventions to fit those periods, and assisting in the public relations activities and marketing of Omaha as a desirable meeting destination site. An incumbent in this position receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor but considerable independent action is permitted on the majority of assigned projects.

Education and Experience: The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.

Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Economics, Marketing, Statistics, or Mathematics AND One (1) year of experience in marketing or research, preferably in the hospitality industry OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the time of appointment.
Must be available to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Range: $58,718.40 with step increases to $75,795.20 Annually

Examination Information: The examination will consist of a training and experience form designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position. The training and experience form will be given to candidates once their application has been received, reviewed by a recruiter, and accepted to test for the position. The form must be completed and returned to the Human Resources Department by March 23, 2026 (passing score 60%). Final eligibility list will be the training and experience form weighted 100%.

Veteran Points: To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months. This information must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by March 23, 2026.

  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a computer or other technology using standard or customized computer or systems software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks
  • Ability to learn and adapt to advances in computer and electronics device technology and software
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data and to establish data collection procedures to monitor the progress of convention development programs
  • Ability to conduct research and compile related reports
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities while meeting stringent deadlines
  • Ability to travel independently to domestic and international destinations via commercial airlines

  • Researches accounts for account updates as requested and keeps all account information current in CRM system.
  • Analyses and maintains database and ensures database accuracy.
  • Trains partners in the Partner Extranet system, ensures partner access is set up correctly, and provides ongoing assistance in the system.
  • Compiles and analyzes for accuracy all weekly, monthly, and annual reports, including but not limited to: sales reports, pace reports, media calendars, convention reports, and marketing metrics.
  • Manages information on OCVB-related industry websites, such as empowerMINT, Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Economic Impact Calculator, and C-VENT, according to required procedures.
  • Tracks and analyzes travel data as assigned using various reports.
  • Maintains regular job attendance in accordance with a schedule established for the position by the supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
  • The following essential functions are specific to the designated division:
  • Marketing Division: Serves as the Marketing division's expert in data collection, research, email marketing, database maintenance and website functionality.
  • Updates and maintains the OCVB Marketing Dashboards, including creating new Dashboards, dashlets, graphs, and manually inputting data as needed.
  • Analyzes Google Analytics to provide progress reports on OCVB websites and campaigns.
  • Exports and analyzes data from any and all research or data vendors working with the OCVB.
  • Serves as the point of contact for all data and software providers on troubleshooting requests to ensure accurate results, and assists with contractual agreements and requirements.
  • Provides knowledge of OCVB email marketing platform and implements automated marketing campaigns.
  • Utilizes the OCVB consumer database to coordinates niche email campaigns.
  • Provides expert knowledge in the content management system (CMS) and updates existing content on OCVB websites.
  • Works with the website developer to ensure website functionality and coding accuracy.
  • Updates and maintains all OCVB promotional web applications.
  • Tracks and exports consumer data to measure the success of each application.
  • Tracks earned media and prepares monthly and quarterly reports for distribution to appropriate tourism partners.
  • Maintains video and photo galleries across internal and external platforms.
  • Sales Division: Develops lists for pre-show direct mail pieces and assists with content for sales presentations and event invitations, working in conjunction with the marketing team.
  • Works with databases to assist Vice President - Sales and Services in prospecting efforts.
  • Assists in research as directed; this includes WEB, MINT, and requesting history from other cities.
  • Coordinates the distribution and follow-up of leads acquired from national marketing databases.
  • Manages and maintains the convention sales lead distribution known as the Partner Extranet.
  • Researches and analyzes a convention industry database of association meeting planners and events, key competitive cities' convention calendars, and other websites for new business.
  • Researches historical data on prospective conventions and updates database.
  • Responds to convention and travel-trade clients requesting information and materials, and delegates to appropriate contact in the Group Sales and Convention Services division.
  • Maintains the performance reporting system to provide return on investment analysis of accounts. Audits and prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly or as requested reports to sales team, executive team, and/or community leaders.
  • Assists the Vice President of Sales and Services on prospect accounts.
