The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment has grown from $100M to $200M in revenue through a recent acquisition. Our brands in the Performance Surfaces portfolio develop and manufacture high-performance coated materials for a variety of applications, including wall decor, museums, graphic design, architectural interiors, digital display, and industrial flooring markets. Position Summary

The Project Engineer will prepare technical documents, installation drawings and quotations. Additional responsibilities include new product design and jobsite support.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis & Estimation: Review blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material, equipment, and installation requirements for material handling projects.
  • Proposal Preparation: Create detailed, accurate, and competitive price proposals and bids for customers.
  • Vendor Relations: Solicit, negotiate, and manage quotes from vendors, contractors, and subcontractors for materials and outside services.
  • Technical Evaluation: Assess cost-effectiveness of customer designs and recommend value-engineered, efficient alternatives.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain organized files of estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Collaboration: Work with sales, project management, and engineering teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Travel: Some domestic travel (up to 10%) visiting customers, job sites and tradeshows.

Personal Attributes and Experience

  • BS degree or AS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field
  • At least five years of experience preferred in manufacturing, construction, or material handling estimating
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work Independently with detailed-oriented mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks)
  • General mechanical skills a plus to support and/or train installation teams

Work Environment

This job is primarily performed in an office environment. The noise level in the office is generally moderate. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds at times.
