Anritsu Company is seeking a Senior SAP HANA Cloud Data Platform Engineer to serve as the technical owner of the company's SAP data platform, including SAP BTP HANA Cloud, core S/4HANA data models, and the data models supporting enterprise analytics in SAP Analytics Cloud. This is a senior individual contributor role accountable for the reliability, performance, and long-term sustainability of the SAP data platform. The position plays a central role in stabilizing and maturing the environment, strengthening development discipline, and improving platform transparency, maintainability, and engineering standards. The role combines platform stewardship with significant hands-on development responsibility. The successful candidate will design, build, optimize, and maintain enterprise data models and calculation views in HANA Cloud, and will serve as the primary technical authority for the data platform that supports SAP Analytics Cloud reporting and planning. This role includes responsibility for ensuring that data models, design decisions, and platform components are well documented and structured for long-term operational continuity.
This position reports to the IT Director and operates within a structured governance and development framework. The role partners closely with the IT Director on architectural direction and collaborates with Business Systems Analysts, BASIS, and infrastructure teams to ensure the platform operates reliably, adheres to defined engineering standards, and evolves in alignment with business and enterprise architectural objectives. Key Responsibilities:
Platform Ownership and Reliability
- Serve as the technical owner of the SAP BTP HANA Cloud data platform, including its database architecture, development lifecycle, source control integration, and enterprise data models.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and long-term sustainability of the platform through disciplined engineering design and operational rigor.
- Own the troubleshooting and resolution of platform issues across data models, replication processes, and dependent systems in collaboration with BASIS and infrastructure teams.
- Improve operational visibility, monitoring effectiveness, and reliability of critical data processes.
- Maintain platform integrity through clear design standards, structured documentation, and consistent engineering practices.
- Ensure the platform can be effectively maintained, extended, and supported by others through proper engineering structure and documentation.
Data Modeling and Development
- Design, build, and maintain scalable HANA Cloud data models and calculation views that support enterprise analytics and planning.
- Carry significant hands-on development responsibility while strengthening overall platform structure and maintainability.
- Stabilize, optimize, and refactor existing data models to improve performance, clarity, and durability.
- Ensure that data models function as a durable enterprise data layer, not solely as reporting artifacts.
Engineering Standards and Platform Maturity
- Strengthen development discipline through structured source control, code review practices, and clearly defined engineering standards.
- Improve documentation quality, design transparency, and shared technical understanding of the platform.
- Contribute technical leadership within established governance and development processes.
- Ensure platform designs, data models, and development processes are structured and documented to support shared ownership and long-term maintainability.
- Build a sustainable engineering foundation that supports long-term platform ownership and continuity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of SAP HANA development or SAP data engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in SAP HANA, including SAP BTP HANA Cloud or equivalent modern SAP HANA environments, with strong capabilities in database architecture, calculation views, SQLScript, performance tuning, partitioning, and memory management.
- Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA data structures across Finance, Inventory, Manufacturing, and Sales domains.
- Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining HANA calculation views as a durable enterprise data layer, not solely for front-end reporting consumption.
- Experience supporting SAP Analytics Cloud with tightly coupled HANA data models.
- Experience troubleshooting SAP CPI integrations in collaboration with BASIS.
- Hands-on experience with Git-based source control and refinement of branching strategies.
- Python scripting experience for automation, validation, or operational support tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to improve structure, reliability, and engineering discipline within an existing production environment.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience modernizing or stabilizing a complex SAP HANA production landscape.
- Experience improving monitoring, observability, and operational reliability practices.
- Experience serving as technical owner of a production SAP HANA or enterprise data platform.
- Interest in expanding into broader SAP data architecture responsibilities over time.
In order to be successful in this role, the following competencies and behavior skills are required:
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability for the long-term reliability, sustainability, and integrity of the SAP data platform.
- Disciplined engineering approach with emphasis on clarity, maintainability, documentation, and shared technical understanding.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem resolution skills, with the ability to diagnose complex platform and data issues.
- Ability to take initiative in strengthening platform structure, improving engineering discipline, and learning new technical capabilities as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document designs, decisions, and technical processes.
- Ability to operate effectively as a senior technical owner within a structured governance and development environment.
- Strong follow-through and accountability to ensure technical efforts are completed with quality and durability.
- Collaborative and effective working style across technical teams, Business Systems Analysts, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers and analysts to promote consistent engineering standards and shared ownership.
