We are proud and excited to offer summer internships for 2026 across several of our different office locations and are currently seeking an Carbon and Climate Internto join our Social Impact team in Seattle, WA.

Our B.L.U.E. (Build, Learn, Understand, Enrich) Summer Internship Program is purposefully designed to inspire your imagination and help you guide your career with purpose. You'll be an integral part of McKinstry with hands-on experience, mentorship and a healthy dose of fun. Our program delivers depth and real experience so that you can truly evaluate potential career paths within the work we do.

What we look for in our Carbon and Climate Interns:

  • Must be pursuing or have a degree in Finance, Mathematics, or another technical field. Junior student standing or higher required.
  • Availability in Summer 2026 (May/June start until August/September depending on school); part-time availability after Summer preferred.
  • Skilled communicator, ability to work with team members across different geographies required.
  • Resourceful, with the ability to work independently and solve problems required.
  • Strong interest in corporate sustainability and social responsibility or willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with large data sources in Excel or other spreadsheet software preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

What are our Energy Engineer Interns responsible for:

Performance Measurement &Analysis

  • Learn current processes for collecting, measuring,and analyzing operational data used tocalculateMcKinstry's carbon footprint.
  • Apply accounting best practices to greenhouse gas emissioninventories.
  • Ensureaccuracy indata collectionprocessesbyidentifyingerrors and troubleshootingany issues.
  • Develop reports, charts, and graphics to communicate trends and impacts to a wide audience.
  • Draft materials (educational one-pagers, questionnaires, etc.) to supportthe collection and analysis ofinternal and externalstakeholderdata.
  • Supportsimilar efforts thatintersectwith otherSocial Impact projects as needed.

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Explore new software tools and dashboard functions to evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Utilize new and existing tools to evaluate strategies and potential impacts of different emission reduction strategies.
  • Supportprojectsthattargetemission reductions fromkeyemission sources(i.e.fleet, facilities, commute, business travel, supply chain)
  • Mange timeline anddeliverables forallassigned projects.
