Advanced Assembly, Inc. (AAI), located in University Research Park on the west side of Madison, is looking to add an Inventory Control Supervisor to our well-trained and experienced staff. Advanced Assembly, Inc. is an electronics manufacturing services provider of electronic assemblies and products, including the Captioned Telephone (CapTel). This full-time position offers a first shift schedule of 5:15 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Thursday and 5:15 AM - 9:30 AM Friday, a competitive starting wage and a full benefits package. Job Summary: The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations and inventory control. This position is responsible for developing and implementing procedures for managing inventory, tracking inventory levels, and ensuring accurate records.

  • Supervise the receiving and stocking of inventory items.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly labeled and stored.
  • Ensure inventory components are delivered to internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and track inventory levels both physically and within the ERP system. Investigate the causes of inventory inaccuracies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain inventory control metrics such as stockouts, late purchase orders, and cycle counting results.
  • Communicate inventory issues with the applicable operations personnel to mitigate production disruptions.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to Team Lead I/IIs, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Promote and lead a safety culture by participating in reporting safety observations, near misses, and incidents.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery (OTD) to external customers.
  • Promote positive employee relations through frequent, open, and direct communication.
  • Participate in the interview and candidate selection process in coordination with the Materials Manager.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, identify and develop high-potential team members, and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Administer disciplinary actions, including formal warnings, in coordination with the Materials Manager.
  • Ensure team compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • May occasionally assist with material handling activities, including operating powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, to support warehouse operations and ensure timely movement of inventory.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Materials Manager



Supervisory Responsibilities: Material Handlers reports to this position.

Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations and inventory control.
  • Experience with 5S and Continuous Improvement.
  • Thorough understanding of inventory control methods such as Point of Use Storage (POUS), Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), and Water Spider.
  • Good organizational and analytical problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Good employee relations skills, able to communicate well with the manager and other team members.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) computer system to manage departmental activities is strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment such as forklifts is preferred but not required. Ability to obtain forklift certification upon hire may be required.

    • Physical ability to move freely and have sufficient reflexes to perform the same tasks repeatedly using hands and power tools to complete the task, at a constant rate.
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds in varying frequency, depending upon the work area.
    • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, as needed.


  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
