The Role:
The Regional EHS Manager Americas is responsible and accountable for delivering and implementing the company's global environment, health and safety (EHS) strategy throughout the Americas region. The role will ensure consistent EHS performance across manufacturing and sales operations in North America, Central America, and South America. This position is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Global Head/Director of Health & Safety and requires a seasoned EHS professional capable of operating at an executive level, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving measurable improvements in EHS governance, compliance, and culture.
Your Responsibilities:
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Identifying areas of organizational risk and developing robust risk mitigation strategies, EHS policies, procedures, and guidance aligned with global EHS strategy and local legislation across all countries in the Americas.
- Ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across diverse regulatory jurisdictions in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and LATAM.
- Coordinating internal and external resources across the region to maintain compliance, execute audits, and strengthen safety culture.
- Maintaining alignment with the Global Head of H&S, Global EHS System Specialist, and EHS leadership counterparts in other regions to ensure standardization of approach.
Leadership & Cultural Transformation
- Providing expert guidance and strategic support to senior operational leaders across manufacturing sites, commercial teams, and functional heads.
- Building and sustaining senior stakeholder relationships with demonstrable influence and credibility.
- Driving a proactive, "safety-first" culture through leadership engagement, training, coaching, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Operational EHS Management
- Leading the development and implementation of regional EHS objectives, targets, KPIs, and performance improvement programs.
- Monitoring and reporting on EHS performance at regional leadership forums, presenting insights, trends, and recommendations.
- Managing and developing regional EHS training programmes and competency frameworks.
- Ensuring contractors, suppliers, and third-party partners are vetted, compliant, and adequately controlled.
- Managing and monitoring activities of external consultants operating on behalf of the EHS function in the Americas.
Incident Management & Regulatory Engagement
- Acting as regional crisis manager for major EHS incidents, coordinating communication, response, and escalation.
- Leading root cause investigations for significant incidents and implementing corrective actions across multiple business units.
- Liaising with relevant regulatory bodies and insurers to ensure appropriate reporting and resolution.
Management Systems & Audit
- Supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of globally aligned EHS management systems consistent with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Coordinating and participating in internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and effective corrective action management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety. Advanced qualifications preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive EHS leadership experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven experience working in multi-country, multi-site operations in North America (experience with LATAM beneficial).
- Deep knowledge of EHS regulations in the United States and familiarity with Canadian, Mexican, and LATAM frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational cultural change.
- Experience with ISO-certified management systems (ISO 45001/14001).
- Strong track record managing serious incidents, regulatory investigations, and crisis events.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
