TITLE: Maintenance Technician

LOCATION: Oswego, IL

SHIFT & HOURS: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm

Hiring Hourly Rate: $33.73/Hr.-$39.73/ Hr.

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring a Maintenance Technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems by performing the following duties.

As a Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair machinery/equipment, including listening for malfunctions and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems, PLCs, automation equipment, robotics, and related controls.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and pipe systems, including valves, regulators, and gauges.
  • Fabricate, weld, and machine parts using tools such as grinders, drills, saws, and shredders; operate forklifts and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain building structures and critical utilities, including daily boiler room inspections and adherence to safety standards (NFPA 70, LOTO, OSHA, BRC).
  • Coordinate contractor activities, support capital projects, write SOPs, and collaborate with engineering and department leaders on continuous improvement.
  • Keep work areas clean, train operators, lead Centerline programs, manage repair cost efficiency, and perform other assigned duties.

  • Are comfortable operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial equipment (or are eager to learn). Take pride in keeping work areas organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Can lift, move, and handle materials throughout the shift while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Work well independently and as part of a team to meet daily goals and support smooth warehouse operations.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Have a two-year certificate from a college or technical school in Electrical Maintenance Technician, Mechatronics, or equivalent program, OR high school diploma with three to five years of related experience specifically with safety, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC programming.
  • Are Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS programs.
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in Oswego, IL, Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm
  • Must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).

What will set you apart:

  • PLC controls experience
  • 5 years or more experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Environmental Concerns

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Floors are wet. Use of sharp knives is required to open bags, cartons and drums. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Dust and odor present in environment. Employees will operate a lift truck at various heights.
