Under general supervision, accurately operates, analyzes, and evaluates the performance of all departmental Nuclear Medicine equipment and keeps records to insure compliance with the state (COMAR) and all other appropriate licensing boards. Coordinates the daily workflow in the Nuclear Medicine Department and manages EKG work flow for the Stress Lab. Implements change when necessary to provide a safe work environment that adheres to the GBMC missions and values for best patient outcome. Responsible for assigning room schedules, managing the work schedule to ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. The team leader positively influences employee engagement and patient satisfaction by assuring GBMC Greater Behaviors are practiced by the department at all times.
Education:
- AA degree or equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology
Licensures/Certifications:
- Maryland state licensure
- Accreditation by the ARRT, CNMT or NBTCB
- Healthcare Provider RQI @ GBMC
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Skills: * Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures with current understanding of COMAR and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements * Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, families and employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress * Verbal communication skills necessary to exchange information on a professional basis with fellow professional, non-professional and ancillary personnel * Analytical skills necessary to coordinate day-to-day operations, ensure sufficient scheduling of personnel and respond effectively to equipment malfunctions, inventory usage, quality control or employee relation's problems * Analytical skills necessary to determine the best method of providing requested images based on the specifics of the individual case within expected turnaround times Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Performs and processes all Nuclear Medicine Procedures and sends processed data to physicians for dictation * Performs, processes, and evaluates equipment Quality Control on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis per regulations and troubleshoots equipment issues when necessary * Mentors staff in positioning techniques and the handling of patients and review Landauer reports with technologists and advises on reduction of exposure when necessary * Orders supplies through Lawson and checks for outdated supplies * Assists Radiology Manager with Nuclear Medicine budget and with the performance appraisals * Prepares, calculates, and injects radionuclides into patients for the appropriate study * Maintains records and/or technical notations on each case as required by regulatory agencies * Consults with referring physicians regarding orders and/or the medical history of the patient when necessary * Assists physicians as necessary * Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area and may direct custodial activities of others * Records and maintains attendance records, and maintains staff scheduling and call sheets and provides copy to manager monthly * Maintains appropriate Maryland licensure employee display * Coordinates equipment repairs with the Biomedical Engineering department and documents on monthly log sheet for Radiology Managers review * Patient Care: Coordinates the daily direct patient care and administrative activities of Nuclear Medicine * Quality Assurance responsibilities including: managing the general safety, and infection control procedures for assigned areas; ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies; completing monthly QA reports; maintaining policies and procedures specific to division and managing Patient and Employee Satisfaction Results. Pay Range $37.72 - $67.89
