Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Manager of Quality Assurance and Design to join our team at our headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall leadership of the Design Group Quality Program. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing the Quality Program within the Design Group. Furthermore, you will be responsible for training the Design Staff on quality procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develops, applies, and maintains quality requirements and standards for design operations.

  • Helps to ensure that design projects meet IPS's profitability and quality standards.

  • Works with the Senior Director of Operations to ensure design compliance with established quality procedures.

  • Interacts with Department Directors regularly to ensure company needs are being met.

  • Performs internal audits and addresses non-conformities.

  • Ensures that documentation and design controls are appropriate for the organization.

  • Serves as the primary Quality Assurance resource to Department Directors for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.

  • Assist employees in applying company standards to projects.

  • Interfaces with Client representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and ensures that effective corrective action is implemented.

  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.

  • Maintains working knowledge of Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, and Process engineering disciplines.

  • Conducts reviews of plans and specifications to ensure inter-disciplinary coordination.

  • Ensure project deliverables meet company requirements for items such as appearance, consistency, and CAD standards.

  • Attends and contributes to interdisciplinary and Peer Review meetings.

  • Develops, executes, and analyzes quality-reporting measures.

  • Produces Quality Review checklist reports after reviews.

  • Assists document control efforts.

  • Maintains Quality Assurance Checklist files.

  • Maintains weekly QA Project list.

  • Practices a personal code of high moral standards for which the Company can be proud.

  • Understands and works within the accepted ethics of the engineering profession.

  • Maintains appropriate contact with the public, clients, and employees to promote and protect the company's interests.

  • Remains up-to-date in own engineering discipline.

  • Has a goal of 70% billability to minimize overhead.

  • Works with Senior Management and the Senior Director of Operations to develop programs for training Design Staff on the proper QA procedures.

  • Develops and delivers training material on quality standards and activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10 + years of engineering experience in one of the building design fields.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven working knowledge of Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, and Process engineering disciplines.
  • Work experience within the Pharmaceutical or related Life Sciences industries is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.

Travel

  • This position will require 5-20% travel or as required by the assigned project.
  • You may be assigned to the client site for an extended period.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client's location is possible, depending on the assignment.

  • You will visit Client sites and must adhere to stated safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.

Safety

  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.

All interviews are conducted either in person or virtually, with video required.
