Chief of Staff, Seattle Engineering Office

We are seeking a highly organized Chief of Staff to play a pivotal role in enhancing employee experience and operational efficiency in our Seattle office. This position is central to managing critical HR administration, streamlining onboarding processes, fostering seamless cross-departmental collaboration, and supporting engineering divisional priorities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating a positive, people-first workplace culture, ensuring our team feels supported, empowered, and connected.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Strategic Partnership and Management: Collaborate closely with senior leaders to define, monitor, and advance strategic objectives and key business initiatives. Assist with executing priorities to elevate our Engineers and the Goldman Sachs Engineering brand internally and externally.


  • Onboarding Management: Partner with HR to oversee and continuously refine the local onboarding process to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all employees.


  • HR Operations & Administration: Manage essential HR administrative tasks, including record-keeping, policy implementation support, and general HR support, ensuring compliance and efficiency.


  • Workplace & Office Management: Coordinate office administration, ensuring a functional, comfortable, and productive work environment. Manage local office budgets.


  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Act as a central point of contact to facilitate effective communication and collaboration across various departments and COO/CoS functions, streamlining workflows and initiatives. Participate in capacity planning initiatives to anticipate resource allocation needs, balance demand with available resources, and ensure optimal performance and scalability of technology infrastructure and teams. Implement effective workforce planning strategies, including hiring, organizational design, and training, to support the evolving demands of technology operations


  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, designing and implementing solutions to enhance the overall employee journey.


  • Culture & Engagement: Actively contribute to fostering a positive, inclusive, and people-first workplace culture through various initiatives and support mechanisms. Engagement with local/regional stakeholders to promote the GS brand and act as culture carrier.


  • Coordination: Oversight of key business meetings and programming events for leadership and regional stakeholders.




Basic Qualifications:




  • Demonstrated experience in a strategic support, HR administration, operations, project management, or operational role within a fast-paced, complex environment.


  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization.


  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and process improvement.


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels.


  • Strong proficiency in standard business productivity software, including advanced experience in presentation and manipulating data using spreadsheet applications; ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


  • Adherence to full week in office policy.




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree required: preferred degree in business, finance, communications, management, organizational development, human resources, public relations, marketing, or consulting preferred.


  • 3 or more years of related work experience preferred but not required.


  • Experience within the financial services or technology industry.


  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and AI Tooling.


  • A proactive, adaptable, and intellectually curious mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement.


  • Experience setting up or scaling up a regional engineering office




Salary Range

The expected base salary for this Seattle, Washington, United States-based position is $85000-$140000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
