We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Teacher to join our Summer Program at the Royal Oak Campus. The Lead Teacher is a seasonal, part-time instructional role within the Baker College Royal Oak Summer Camp Program, designed for an educator who thrives in a dynamic, high-energy environment and is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for middle school students. As the classroom's instructional leader, the Lead Teacher delivers engaging, standards-aligned curriculum in Math, English/Reading, and STEM, effectively implementing provided Lavina Rise lesson plans while adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs and bridge the gap between the traditional school year and summer learning. This role is responsible for fostering a safe, supportive, and collaborative classroom environment by managing all aspects of student engagement, behavior, and supervision during instructional periods, transitions, and lunch, as well as overseeing four to five off-site educational field trips with a strong emphasis on student safety and accountability in public and transit settings. A Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, English, STEM, or a related field is required, along with demonstrated experience teaching or mentoring middle school-aged students. Candidates should be able to deliver instruction across multiple core subject areas and demonstrate strong classroom management skills within a structured school or youth program setting. The ideal candidate will pass all required background checks and safety screenings and bring a versatile skill set that includes multidisciplinary instruction and pedagogical adaptability. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with students and colleagues, along with the ability to lead groups, manage conflict, and foster a positive learning environment. Additional strengths include strong organizational skills for maintaining student records and coordinating field trip logistics, knowledge of crisis management and student safety protocols, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse educational team. State of Michigan Teacher Certification (Secondary or Middle School) is preferred but not required for this seasonal role, and candidates must obtain valid CPR and First Aid certification prior to the program start date. The chosen candidate will believe in and support the student first philosophy while contributing to the overall success of Baker College, while acting as a positive role model and brand ambassador on and off campus.
