What to Expect
As an Engineering Technician specializing in test equipment assembly at Tesla, you will play a critical role in supporting engineering teams by assembling test fixtures, electronic enclosures, and custom rack-mounted testing equipment for component-level PCB testing. This role requires a strong background in electrical systems, with the ability to independently build electrical panels and harnesses based on provided blueprints. Collaboration with engineering, purchasing, and machine shop teams will be essential to ensure the successful execution of projects and maintenance of high-quality standards.

What You'll Do
  • Interpret harness drawings and perform precision cuts, strips, crimps, and assembly of high-density harnesses according to specifications
  • Utilize electrical schematics to manage component layout, harness routing, point-to-point wiring, and assembly of rack-mounted test infrastructure while ensuring continuity verification
  • Maintain detailed records of wiring and connectivity in test setups using MS Excel
  • Perform documented reworks, upgrades, maintenance, and continuity troubleshooting on existing test equipment
  • Collaborate with purchasing for BOM procurement, seek technical guidance from engineering, and coordinate with machine shop teams for fabrication needs
  • Address occasional simple task requests from engineering teams in a timely manner
  • Manage time effectively to complete parallel assignments and meet project deadlines

What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with industrial equipment, machine tools, and both hand and power tools
  • Proficiency in harness construction with the ability to read and interpret harness diagrams and electrical schematics
  • Skilled in using general and electrician tools, including soldering
  • Exposure to a shop fabrication or maker space environment
  • Prior experience with automated test fixture assembly is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and Altium is an advantage
  • Metal fabrication skills are a plus

    Expected Compensation
    $24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
