Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigates case situations and presents information to oncologist and other members of health team, on patient's family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment. Works in close collaboration with oncologists and other health care personnel in patient evaluation and treatment to further their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying patient's health problem.
- Helps patient and family through individual or group conferences to understand and accept social, medical and emotional factors in regards to the health problem. Provides service planned to restore the patient to optimum social and health adjustment within the patient's capacity.
- Serves as link between patient and community resources.
- Works directly in treatment relationship with patients, individually or in groups, in consultation with the oncologist. Refers patient or patient's family to other community resources.
Education and Experience Masters' Degree in Social Work Ability to pursue training certificate and accrue hours preferred Certification and Licensure Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days Maintain a valid driver license-preferred (or per programs guidelines) Maintain a valid driver's license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

Applicant must possess a broad background of training and experience with various patient populations and modes of service delivery. Language Skills Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills

The position has the potential for substantial latitude and independent action. PAY RANGE:
$61,173.09 - $94,818.29
