Overview
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.

In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Office of Finance and Administration. Reporting to SEBS/ NJAES Facilities Project Manager Supervisor, the Assistant Manager will support the Office of Finance and Administration by coordinating facility operations, maintenance and repair activities, and compliance initiatives across all on- and off-campus locations. This position serves as a key liaison between SEBS/ NJAES units, University central offices, including IP&O, Public Safety, RUDOTs, Controller's Office, REHS, and other administrative departments to coordinate facilities operations safely, efficiently, and in compliance with University policies.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Manages space inventory.
  • Supports operational and maintenance coordination.
  • Facilitates communication between departments to resolve facility-related issues.
  • Provides oversight of SEBS/NJAES asset management activities, including vehicle fleet documentation, and equipment inventory compliance.
  • Performs essential administrative and operational support functions, including requisition processing, facility key inventory, parking coordination, and communication of facility updates to end users.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree preferably in a related field and a minimum of two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of coordination, organization and project management.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and problem- solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently or as an effective member of a team.
  • Must have some experience with OSHA or other safety/regulatory standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in working with automated purchasing systems.
  • Project work order or management system experience.
  • Familiarity with space management software.


Equipment Utilized
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe suite of products, including Illustrator, Photoshop, project/work order management software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to travel to off campus facilities.
Special Conditions

  • This position requires availability to work some nights, weekends and holidays on occasion as needed.
