Job Description

Responsibilities of this position involve: planning, directing, and coordinating activities to assure maintenance and performance of the approved ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 Quality system. Supervise directly and through subordinate supervisors, all aspects and activities associated with the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Departments. Work directly with Government and Customer representatives in the interpretation of technical data, and the specifics of the quality system. Recommends and enforces inspection and Quality system procedures and policies within the facility. Works closely with internal departments in the development and analysis of quality performance data to alleviate systemic quality problems while reducing costs associated with, Scrap, Rework, Cycle time and labor burden. Develops and recommends inspection techniques and Certified Operator programs that yield quality results while reducing economic impact. Responsible for hiring and training new employees, Quality Engineers, and inspection personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 quality systems requirements and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with NADCAP processes.
  • Establish and administer quality control practices and procedures designed to assure the consistency of product quality, while improving levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and administer quality control practices and procedures relating to incoming material, in process and finished products to assure that the established standards of quality, accuracy, workmanship, and performance are maintained. Develop special methods and procedures when necessary.
  • Establish and administer inspection procedures to ascertain accuracy of tools and gauges used for the fabrication of company products.
  • Investigate all quality complaints and rejections, see that corrective measures are applied to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Thoroughly investigate corrective actions on all Returned hardware.
  • Maintain records and initiate a continuous improvement and corrective action system for all defective products. This includes scrap and rework expenses, Cycle time etc. Recommend improvements to methods, procedures, or other changes that will result in improved quality consistency with reduced economical cost to the company.
  • Maintain and monitor process related to Nadcap approvals: Welding, Heat Treating, Nondestructive Testing, and Chemical Processing.
  • Initiate and conduct SPC collection and analysis to establish and maintain process capability, and certification.
  • Develops and maintains effective two-way communication internally with operations departments of the company to assure adequate dissemination of corrective actions necessary to eliminate repetitive quality problems.
  • Controls and develops MRB system to minimize turnarounds times, and ensures adequate corrective actions are taking place. Additionally, develops and monitors MRB trends such as: Total items, Cost, and cycle-time measures.
  • Maintains and acts as the Accountable Manager of the FAA Repair Station. Ensures compliance with FAA parts 145, 65, 21 and 25 requirements.
  • Monitors Supplier performance through the use of established metrics. Maintains approved vendor qualification and preferred suppliers' systems.
  • Establishes and maintains Certified Operator program while maintaining and monitoring performance through product audits.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, or equivalent years of experience and education (10 years' experience).
  • Six years of diversified and progressively responsible experience in quality control of precision-machined parts, which must have covered in process, finished products, tools and gages, and laboratory tests of both metals and specialized alloys.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of up-to-date inspection and control methods in the metal industry; and analytical mind with the ability to understand, modify and interpret complex technical information and to draw valid conclusions, extreme conscientiousness; ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience in Quality Systems Administration; experienced in Quality system auditing and customer audits.
  • Through knowledge of quality procedures and competent to perform Root Cause and Corrective Actions independently.
  • Must possess Level 3 certification in at least one of the NADCAP processes.
  • Experience in data analysis (Cost of Quality, Nonconformance Trends, Scrap and Rework reports and charts, supplier performance evaluations and trends).
