The Nursing Department at the Milwaukee School of Engineering is seeking a part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor starting in Summer 2026 to join our team.

The Adjunct role have responsibilities in an on-line setting with potential for on-campus immersions. The main responsibility will be oversight of student practicum hours and experiences, including monitoring of documentation, providing feedback and visits with preceptors. There may be potential for delivering content in the PMHNP curriculum that is current and based on best evidence.

MSOE's School of Nursing provides a unique, holistic education in the care of clients with psychiatric mental health issues. Our curriculum is rich in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. Experience in solution-focused therapy and holistic nursing practice is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing syllabus that identifies course expectations, policies, assessments, and curricular map
  • Meeting with students to identify goals and review meeting of objectives during practicums
  • Entering Typhon to review documentation and student experiences
  • Providing consistent and timely feedback to students
  • Collaboration with Program Director and Program Coordinator
  • Meeting with preceptors in an on-line format and evaluation of Practicum experiences
  • Potential for involvement in on-campus immersions
  • Reviewing content in Learning Management System for courses
  • Student evaluation through formative and summative means
  • Clear communication with students regarding academic progression/professionalism
  • Evaluation of course/teaching strategies at end of semester
  • Evaluation of preceptor/site at end of semester
  • Offering office hours
  • Meetings with Program Coordinator as required


Qualifications

  • MSN required
  • PhD or DNP from an accredited institution preferred
  • ANCC PMHNP-BC
  • Current unencumbered RN license
  • Preferred knowledge and application of solution-focused therapy
  • Preferred application of holistic nursing practice
  • Ability to effectively lead teams
  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse faculty, staff and student body
  • Practice background or currently practicing
  • Ability to clearly communicate in a variety of ways
  • Efficiency in use of computer programs including Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for teaching, Outlook for scheduling
  • Effective organizational skills and methods for prioritization
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Ability to recognize and initiate change as needed


Skills and Abilities

  • Requires the ability to read standard English and basic technical data
  • Requires the ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions or inquires furnished in written and/or oral form; to acquire knowledge of topics related to occupation.
  • Must be able to perform technological functions with direction from IT.
