The Group Corporate Development team at LSEG is a best in class, successful and high impact team. We are experts in Strategy and M&A and have helped the Group deliver on its M&A strategy over the years: from industry defining transformational partnerships and acquisitions, acquisition of Refinitiv in 2021; to highly complex disposals like the disposal of Borsa Italiana or the disposal of Beta+; to highly strategic bolt-on acquisitions and minority investments like LSEG's acquisition of Acadia in and GDC, TORA and Quantile. These transactions have not only helped transform our Group to drive growth and deliver on our strategic priorities but have also re-shaped our industry. The team partners with the CEO, CFO, CSO and Executive Committee (ExCo) of LSEG to shape the overall strategy of the Group.

About this role

We are seeking a high-performing and collaborative leader to join the team as a Director. In this role, you will act as a key adviser and partner to our businesses, helping them to define their M&A strategy and execute on key opportunities. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of activity and leading teams of M&A specialists on active projects. This is a high visibility role, partnering with C-level executives and with extensive collaboration with a broad range of leaders across the Group. Within the Group Corporate Development team, you will be a senior leader and be responsible for developing and supporting the team's talent, resources and culture!

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent leadership skills which includes leading and guiding a M&A team, an ability to bring unique strategic and commercial perspectives to your work, extensive experience in designing and implementing a range of M&A transactions, and a strong ability to build and maintain high quality relationships with a variety of partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Business partner and adviser to our businesses on M&A strategy and execution
  • Partner with executives to inform our strategic areas of interest, and develop a view of our high priority M&A opportunities
  • Advise business leaders on strategic and commercial decisions relating to M&A opportunities and projects
  • Oversee a portfolio of M&A activity and lead deal teams to successfully complete transactions
  • Thought leader on M&A best practise, deal structuring and valuation
  • Navigate governance processes and ensure we deliver our M&A with highest possible standards
  • Ensure strong support from and visibility of projects amongst key corporate and functional partners
  • Cultivate and draw on relationships in establishing network within the industry including Investment Banking and Private Equity communities to help drive LSEG inorganic agenda
  • Build strong industry knowledge and act as an expert on inorganic activity in market
  • Develop M&A team and contribute to decisions on team objectives, resourcing, career framework and training

Key skills and experience

The ideal candidate is an experienced M&A professional with a strong track record of successfully leading and completing M&A transactions and experience across a wide variety of transaction types and deal structures. Plus;

  • Ability to design M&A processes and factor in key governance turning points and approvals
  • Strong track record of leading M&A teams across multiple M&A projects
  • Experience of structuring deals, determining optimal valuations and negotiating key deal points
  • Ability to develop clear and pragmatic recommendations and plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with experience of preparing and delivering executive briefings and reports
  • Ability to reach across an organization to bring the right expertise and diversity of perspectives together, adopting a range of operating models with different partners based on context and business need
  • Ability to influence executives with insight and respect
  • MBA or Master's degree or equivalent experience; Professional qualification preferred (e.g. CFA, CA, ACA)

Compensation/Benefits Information:

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $0 - $0. Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Variable Incentive Compensation plan. Target variable compensation will be commensurate with the posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
