Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is experiencing unprecedented growth. We have a regular, full-time position for a Water/Wastewater Technician position. This position requires the operator to travel between job sites performing associated duties required to operate and maintain water/wastewater systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining treatment systems (piping pumps, valves, and tanks)
  • Preparing chemicals for treatment systems: operating and maintaining instrumentation on treatment systems and meters (calibration, repair, troubleshooting)
  • Laboratory sampling and recordkeeping
  • Preparing field reports
  • Grease trap inspections
  • Marking Miss Digs
  • General maintenance of vehicles, work areas, and equipment

The ability to respond promptly to emergencies and some travel will be required. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position will also be required to be on-call.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A certificate or higher in water technology or a related field

--OR--

  • If no certificate, at least one (1) year of relevant experience

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

  • Michigan D Wastewater license
  • Michigan S-4, D-4 Water Treatment license
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations (e.g., maintaining piping, pumps, valves, and tanks)
  • Operating and maintaining instrumentation on treatment systems and meters
  • Understanding of principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical water/wastewater treatment
  • Knowledge of wastewater collection systems and water distribution systems
  • Knowledge of/ experience with safety training
