Description

The Stoughton Area School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE 4th Grade Teacher at Kegonsa Elementary School, effective at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Summary: The educator is responsible for providing instruction aligned with the Wisconsin Academic Standards to students in grades K-5 in a general education elementary school setting. This role includes planning, delivering, and assessing instruction to support student learning and academic growth.



Essential Job Functions:




  • Demonstrates knowledge in subjects taught and content-related pedagogy.



  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the classroom.



  • Establishes and maintains a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.



  • Works toward students taking an active role in their own learning.



  • Guides the learning process to achieve curriculum and district strategic plan goals.



  • Implements revised district curricula and utilizes new instructional materials to support student learning.



  • Understands prerequisite relationships among concepts and skills.



  • Incorporates global awareness, cultural diversity, and inclusive practices into instruction.



  • Employs a variety of instructional methods and materials appropriate to meet objectives.



  • Assesses student progress regularly and provides feedback to support understanding and learning.



  • Promotes deep conceptual learning, critical thinking, discussion, and logical reasoning.



  • Communicates with families regarding student progress and development.



  • Assists in the development and implementation of standards for student conduct and discipline and maintains order in a fair and consistent manner.



  • Assists in the collection and analysis of data related to student attendance and behavior.



  • Takes reasonable precautions to safeguard students' health and safety.



  • Collaborates regularly with colleagues, students, and families.



  • Implements district policies and procedures governing student life and classroom management.



  • Plans and supervises assignments for educational assistants and volunteers, and assists the principal in evaluating their performance.



  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.



  • Works cooperatively with staff, students, families, and the community.



  • Complies with district personnel policies and regulations.





Education and/or Experience:




  • Possess or qualify for a valid Wisconsin teaching license.



  • Meet qualifications set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.



  • Previous teaching experience preferred, particularly at the elementary school level.





Language Skills:




  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, families, and the community.



  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and age-appropriate manner.

  • Strong knowledge of subject area and instructional pedagogy.



  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.



  • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs.



  • Competence in classroom management and student discipline.

Physical Requirements:




  • Occasional (1-33%) bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, squatting, reaching, and stair climbing.



  • Lifting: 0-10 pounds constantly (66-100%).





Environment:




  • Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting with regular interaction with students, staff, and families.



  • Requires occasional physical activity such as bending, lifting, and walking to perform essential job functions.



  • May involve exposure to typical classroom noise and conditions associated with a school environment.





Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:




  • Wisconsin DPI Educator License endorsed for Elementary Education (provisional or higher).



  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.



  • Background check/fingerprint clearance as required by DPI.
