About This Role
Research duties include the design, execution, and support of animal experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment. In addition, support for molecular diagnostics (PCR, RT-PCR, dPCR) is required. Research duties will primarily support research projects in two national Centers of Excellence: the Center of Excellence for Emerging Zoonotic Animal Diseases (http://www.ceezad.org) and the Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (https://www.k-state.edu/cezid). About Us Successful candidates would join a growing community of scientists in the region who are affiliated with KSU or federal and regional centers, including the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility (NBAF; https://www.usda.gov/nbaf) and the Biosecurity Research Institute (https://www.bri.k-state.edu/). Manhattan, KS, is a vibrant university town that offers a high quality of life, with great opportunities for outdoor recreation, dining, cultural opportunities, great public schools, and close proximity to larger urban centers. Worksite Description This position is On-site. All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho. What You'll Need to Succeed Minimum Qualifications: - PhD, DVM, or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, virology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related field The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience designing, executing, and supporting animal experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment Additional Role Information: - Full-time position (1.0 FTE) Sponsorship eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
