About This Role

Research duties include the design, execution, and support of animal experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment. In addition, support for molecular diagnostics (PCR, RT-PCR, dPCR) is required. Research duties will primarily support research projects in two national Centers of Excellence: the Center of Excellence for Emerging Zoonotic Animal Diseases (http://www.ceezad.org) and the Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (https://www.k-state.edu/cezid).

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

- PhD, DVM, or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical sciences, virology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in experimental research and data analysis
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Evidence of productivity through peer-reviewed publications

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience designing, executing, and supporting animal experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 biocontainment
- Experience with molecular diagnostics (PCR, RT-PCR, dPCR)

Additional Role Information:

- Full-time position (1.0 FTE)
- Non-tenure track appointment
- Work conducted in high containment laboratories (BSL-2 and BSL-3)
