ABOUT THE ROLE

The Metal Shop Certified Welder is responsible for fabricating production assemblies used in precast manufacturing, ensuring all work meets company and PCI certification standards. This role involves welding, cutting, and assembling components using shop equipment such as welders, saws, presses, and forklifts. The position plays a key role in supporting efficient production through high-quality, accurate, and safe fabrication work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Perform welding operations that meet company and PCI certification standards
  • Operate shop equipment including welders, forklifts, shears, punches, drill presses, and band saws
  • Fabricate and assemble production components used in precast manufacturing
  • Build and set up jigs for fabrication work as needed
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and production drawings
  • Use gas/acetylene torches for cutting and fabrication tasks
  • Transport and handle materials safely within the shop environment
  • Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and safely
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures and quality standards
  • Support additional shop and production tasks as assigned

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Welding certification preferred (willingness to test and certify required)
  • Ability to read blueprints, steel orders, and basic technical documents
  • General math skills and ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred (training provided)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
  • Adaptability to changing priorities in a production environment
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
