Description

This is a full-time, salaried leadership position based out of our Scripps Green campus in Torrey Pines. Flexibility to travel or relocate to all Scripps Health sites systemwide is required. Must be available to work Monday-Friday and weekends as needed. This position involves physical tasks such as lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.

The Supervisor of Biomed Engineering is responsible for, including but not limited to managing the workflow of employees, creating team schedules, delegating tasks, and ensures that business goals, deadlines, and performance standards are met. Monitors documentation of work performed and reporting of service activities. Monitor employee productivity, provide constructive feedback and coaching, evaluate employee self-assessments, and write employee performance evaluations. Contributes to the interview process for new hires. Training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles. Helps to resolve employee issues and disputes then reports potential personnel issues to senior leadership. Manages asset life cycle through the capital budget replacement process. Establishes working relationships with vendors and manufacturers while overseeing vendor contract evaluation and management. Serves as knowledge resource to end users regarding equipment and participates on local and system wide committees. Oversees the coordination of recalls and alerts on medical devices. Under the direction of risk management, investigates clinical equipment incidents. Tracks, trends, and reports equipment performance indicators. Responsible for presenting program evidence to hospital administration, regulatory agencies, and surveyors as required. Oversees networked clinical systems through standards and procedures, configuration, security, and troubleshooting. Manages aspects of information security on integrated biomedical devices with anti-virus software, Biomed VLAN, firmware, SIRTs, security alerts and response. Reviews and updates Biomedical Engineering policies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Technology, equivalent military training or 4 years of Biomedical Engineering experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years Biomedical Engineering hospital-based experience
  • Knowledge in computer and network fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AAMI CBET, Comp TIA Net+ or Equivalent
  • Understanding of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • General knowledge in regulatory requirements
  • Computer Networking training/education
