Covia is looking for a dynamic Environmental Intern who will have a positive impact on the Environmental Team. As an Environmental Intern, you will support the Corporate Environmental Team gaining hands-on exposure to corporate environmental programs, permitting, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives across multiple operating sites. The intern will support strategic environmental efforts while gaining insights into how corporate environmental functions support site-level compliance and long-term conservation and reclamation goals. The internship will be May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Learn, and adhere to Covia's safety principles, including applicable MSHA requirements and safe work practices when interacting with site personnel or visiting operations
  • Support the Corporate Environmental Team with environmental permitting activities
  • Assist with supporting site-level environmental compliance by helping gather data and documentation for regulatory reporting, supporting internal compliance tracking and audits, and responding to site environmental questions and needs under corporate guidance
  • Participate in the development and rollout of a company-wide waste management program, including data collection and analysis, program documentation and guidance development, and coordination with sites to support implantation and consistency.
  • Gain exposure to corporate conservation and reclamation programs, including planning, tracking, and reporting efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Legal, and Mine Planning and Geology, to support environmental initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned



The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Policy, Sustainability, or a related field of study from an accredited university
  • Strong interest in corporate environmental compliance, permitting, sustainability, and environmental management systems
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to analyze data, think critically, and communicate findings clearly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis or document management is a plus
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse, cross-functional team
