We are seeking a Principal Innovation Architect to serve as the next-generation commercial platform innovation function within IT, with a strong focus on modernizing monetization and customer interaction models. This role will define and evolve a Common Services layer that sits between commercial platforms and our products, enabling scalable, reusable capabilities that accelerate revenue growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate combines deep commercial systems expertise with a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and master new technologies as needed to define architectural building blocks. Emerging technologies, including AI, are leveraged pragmatically as accelerators to achieve measurable commercial outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the Common Services architecture to enable modern monetization and customer lifecycle capabilities across commercial systems
- Focus on commercial leverage, including:
- Consumption-based and usage-driven models (wallets, entitlements, metering)
- Flexible licensing and packaging strategies
- Scalable order-to-cash and fulfillment integration patterns
- Lead POCs and pilots that validate new commercial capabilities before broad adoption
- Design architectures that modernize customer engagement, including in-app experiences and integrated support journeys
- Apply AI selectively and pragmatically to:
- Reduce friction in commercial and support processes
- Automate repetitive operational workflows
- Improve responsiveness and personalization in customer interactions
- Partner closely with Marketing, Go-to-Market, web, integration, and data teams to drive end-to-end commercial outcomes
- Translate business strategy and industry trends into reference architectures, patterns, and guardrails
- Act as a trusted advisor to delivery teams, helping them make sound architectural and technology decisions
- Communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Rapidly learn, assess, and internalize new technologies, platforms, and frameworks to determine their applicability within the Common Services architecture
- Define foundational building blocks for Common Services by synthesizing industry trends, vendor capabilities, and internal constraints
- Lead time boxed technology explorations and POCs to validate feasibility, scalability, and commercial impact
- Distill complex or emerging technologies into clear architectural patterns and guidance that can be adopted by delivery teams
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise, platform, or solution architecture, with strong commercial systems exposure
- Deep experience with commercial platforms, especially Salesforce and modern web architectures
- Strong understanding of software industry commercial processes, including:
- SaaS, on-prem, and hybrid delivery models
- Licensing, entitlements, Software Distribution, and renewals
- Order fulfillment and order-to-cash flows
- Customer support and service ecosystems
- Proven track record of leading POCs or innovation initiatives, including rapid onboarding to unfamiliar technologies in service of business outcomes
- Hands-on architectural experience with APIs, integrations, identity, and data platforms
- Proven ability to quickly learn and master new technologies and apply them effectively to define platform building blocks and architectural patterns
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces
- Strong influence and communication skills without formal authority
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or supporting usage-based billing, wallets, or consumption platforms
- Exposure to AI-enabled capabilities (e.g., AI agents, intelligent automation, in-app support, analytics-driven insights)
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and microservices
- Experience working closely with commercial, GTM, or revenue operations teams
- Background spanning both enterprise IT systems and product-adjacent platforms
- Proven ability to quickly learn and master new technologies and apply them effectively to define platform building blocks and architectural patterns
