Application Architect

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Architect / Virtualization Automation Engineer for an onsite position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC; Richmond, VA; or Kennesaw, GA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role focuses on platform automation, systems integration, and workflow ownership across VMware-based virtualization platforms. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to integrations with VMware Aria, VMware vSphere, and Horizon, while maintaining automation workflows that support the full virtual desktop and application lifecycle. This is a hands-on platform and automation architect role with accountability from design through production support, sitting between traditional infrastructure engineering and application development.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and actively contribute to integrations with VMware Aria, VMware vSphere, and Horizon-based platforms, guiding architectural decisions and serving as a technical authority for virtualization automation solutions
• Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows supporting virtual desktop and application lifecycle management
• Act as a key contributor within a larger platform engineering team, influencing automation standards and integration patterns across shared services
• Own automation solutions across the full lifecycle, including architecture, integration, deployment, and production support
• Design and consume secure RESTful APIs to support system-to-system integration and orchestration
• Support and troubleshoot pre-production and production environments, including operational triage and root cause analysis
• Ensure automation workflows and integrations are resilient, maintainable, and operationally sound
• Document architectural decisions, workflows, and integration patterns using JIRA and Confluence

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting production applications or platform solutions
• Strong experience with solution architecture, systems integration, and platform automation in enterprise environments
• Proven ability to create and consume secure RESTful APIs
• Demonstrated experience supporting pre-production and production systems
• Working knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware-based platforms
• Experience with Horizon Connection Server or similar virtualization brokers
• Comfort documenting architectural and engineering decisions using JIRA and Confluence

Desired skills:

• Experience leading or contributing to automation workflow development and maintenance
• Hands-on full-stack development experience (MVC frameworks, PowerShell, SQL)
• Experience with workflow orchestration or automation platforms (e.g., VMware Aria / vRealize Automation)
• Prior experience in an operations or production support role
• Understanding of virtualization concepts such as Clusters, VLANs, and Storage (SAN / NAS)

Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24
