Responsibilities

Imagine a day whereyou'redesigning the backbone of the power grid-drafting substation layouts, running protection and grounding analyses, and fine-tuning relay settings that keep energy flowing safely. You collaborate with engineers across disciplines, solve real-world challenges, and see your designs come to life in the field. Every detail you contribute will help power entire communities-safely, reliably, and sustainably.

  • Substation Design & Drafting: Develop electric substation drawings, includingGeneralArrangments, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts. Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structuredetaildrawings
  • Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill.
  • Technical Documentation & Specifications: Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes
  • Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensureaccurateand on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
  • Field Support: Providing on-site technical support forselectENERCON clients during construction and commissioning asrequired

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineeringfrom an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of6years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executingsubstation physical designprojects
  • Non-senior roles will be considered with 3+ years of experience
  • Familiarity withsubstation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design
  • Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
  • Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards
  • Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
  • Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provideaccurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment
  • 500kV substation engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active NCEES record for reciprocity
  • Field testing/commissioning experience
  • AutoCAD Electrical design experience

Pay Range

USD $93,100.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
