Overview

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at NASA's White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM supporting the Materials and Components Laboratory's Flammability group.

Responsibilities

Engineer or Scientist sought to support design, build, and testing of oxygen systems within the Materials Components and Testing Department.

    Conducts material flammability testing per NASA-STD-6001, or non-standard conditions, in gaseous oxygen environments. Testing could involve a variety of test methods, temperatures, pressures, and test configurations.
  • Preparation of detailed work instruction documents, including direction and oversight for mechanical technicians in a union environment.
  • Management of pressure systems to ASME and NASA site specific requirements. This includes designing and maintaining pressure systems to include flow, pressure, compatibility, and stress calculations to allow for safe personnel operation.
  • Perform assigned project management responsibilities to maintain projects within budget and schedule.


Qualifications

Requires an Engineering or Bachelor's degree and 0-5 years of related work experience.

Desired skills/experience are;

  • Code application of, ASME, NFPA 2, NFPA 55, other
  • Modeling experiences (CREO, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Basic computational tools (Excel, MathCad, etc.)
  • Specialized software (database, research skills, etc.)
  • Project skills: Management & planning, team building, etc.
