Stellar Solutions is seeking a Ground Systems Test Engineer to support the SN SE&I program in developing and rapidly delivering resilient remote sensing and national security space capabilities. This role supports test, analysis, verification, and validation across complex ground systems and helps ensure advanced technologies are integrated with rigor and readiness from early planning through execution. The position requires strong collaboration across engineering disciplines and stakeholders in a mission-focused environment.
Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications
This role supports test and evaluation strategy, system integration, and lifecycle test execution for complex ground systems. The Ground Systems Test Engineer will help define test approaches, develop core test artifacts, and support program reviews and coordination across government and partner organizations. Key responsibilities include:
Support test and evaluation, system integration, and engineering execution on major defense acquisition programs involving complex ground software and hardware systems
- Develop test strategies, plans, reports, and briefings in a collaborative team environment
- Participate in test execution, verification, and analysis activities across the lifecycle
- Support overall engineering integration of systems engineering and integration efforts for DoD, government, or commercial programs
- Apply systems engineering standards, including IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2, to test planning and execution
- Define, develop, maintain, and execute large-scale system test plans and overarching test and evaluation strategy documents
- Develop artifacts such as Test and Evaluation Strategy, Test and Evaluation Master Plans, System Integration Test Plans, Enterprise Verification Plans, Verification Cross Reference Matrices, and Requirements Verification Files
- Collaborate with government clients, FFRDCs, and partner teammates to achieve program goals
- Identify areas requiring early mitigation and support advanced technical solutions through disciplined test planning
- Contribute to program reviews and lifecycle coordination supporting verification, validation, and operational readiness
Required Qualifications
- 10-15 years progressive system test, analysis, verification & validation experience.
- 6+ years of experience working or planning on test and evaluation and system integration on Major Defense Acquisition Programs, including complex ground software and hardware systems
- 6+ years of experience working in a collaborative team environment, developing test strategies, plans, reports, and briefings, and participating in test execution, verification, or analysis
- Experience supporting overall engineering integration of systems engineering and integration efforts for the DoD, government agencies, or commercial programs
- Knowledge of systems engineering standards, including IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2
- Ability to define, develop, maintain, and execute large-scale system test plans and overarching test and evaluation strategy documents, including TES, TEMP, SITP, EVP, VCRM, and RVFs
- Ability to communicate and establish collaborative relationships with government clients, FFRDCs, and partner teammates to achieve program goals
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Technology
Desired Qualifications
- Experience performing systems engineering, integration, and testing on ground-based remote sensing systems
- Experience with portfolio and program verification, interoperability, validation and certification, and operational acceptance
- Experience planning, executing, and reporting testing on behalf of the Lead Developmental Test Organization or the Operational Test Agency
- Experience planning and executing program reviews throughout the lifecycle of the system
- Experience using model-based systems engineering tools to manage system definitions and technical baselines
- Knowledge of DoD 5000.01, 5000.02, 5000.89, 5000.98, or 5000.100
- Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Technology
- CTEP or INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP
Clearance & Additional Requirements
- Active Secret clearance
- Active TS/SCI clearance is desired
- All positions require at least 2-3 days per week on site; meetings and schedules may require additional on-site support
Location El Segundo, California Compensation: The typical annual salary range for this position is approximately, USD $115,000 - $154,000. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, profit sharing / retirement plan and other benefits (all in addition to annual base salary).
Deliverable(s)
Deliverables could be in the format of a report, software file, briefing, spreadsheet, or other document as directed by the Government, using government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction. The nature of this work will, at times, require quick responses to stringent deadlines and always in a high quality, professional manner.
