Job Description

Position: Lab Technician

Primary Location: East St. Louis

Schedule: 2-year contract - Monday to Friday - 40-hour work week. Some overtime as needed for business needs and training objectives.

Reports to: Quality Systems Manager

Compensation: $23- $25 per hour

The US hourly range for this position is $23- $25 per hour. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

About this Role and About You

Provide laboratory and operational support to Chemtrade manufacturing facilities. Responsible for performing sample analyses using applicable internal and external analytical methodologies including associated documentation/certification.

Qualifications

Knowledge

    Bachelor's degree in physical science or related field desired. Experience and/or related analytical associate degree may be substituted.

Competencies

  • Attention to detail, adaptability, self-starter, excellent leadership and communication skills are essential
  • Must be able to perform work with minimal supervision to achieve a safe, environmentally sound and reliable operation

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of analyses performed
  • Perform sample preparation activities which may include but are not limited to weighing, filtering, drying, grinding, digest and extractions.
  • Performs wet chemistry analyses and generate certificate of analyses, where applicable
  • Assist management in ensuring all deliveries meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance to analytical equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational quality issues
  • Assists with inventory management and procurement of laboratory supplies
  • Assist and serve as a backup for the Chemist as needed
  • Prepare, certify, and package product samples for shipment to internal and external customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential function of this job

  • Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Employee must occasionally lift and /or move items weighing up to 55 lbs
  • Specific vision capabilities are required and include the ability to detect slight color changes when performing various wet chemistry color-based titrations. Titration indicator colors include but are not limited to yellow, brown, red, orange, green, blue, pink, white and black.
