Job Description

Summary: Performs inspections, checks, and tests for quality assurance of manufactured products to ensure compliance with product specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position.

  • Inspect inbound pole sections for casting defects (pinholes, cracks, checks, ribbon splash, sand, etc.)
  • Monitors AGT results for quality defects, marginal calls and outliers while providing feedback to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform all aspects of the scrap process.
    • Daily scrap review / reclaim process.
    • Prepare former cast scrap reporting.
  • Perform all functions of the ASCE sample process.
    • Directs collection, shipment and tracking of samples.
    • Maintains test results - electronic file.
  • Perform all facets of gauging program.
    • Bi-monthly inspection of gauges
    • Bi-month inspection of section tips gauges - Section 1 and Section 2
    • Performs random gauging of section inventory for compliance.
  • Uses various tools such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, ultrasound, etc.
  • Works with Enterprise liaison
    • Ensures AGT processing rules are correctly applied.
    • Ensures AGT reporting is accurate.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of problems as they arise.
  • Monitors work performed by hourly employees in Section Preparation and works with area supervisor to implement necessary changes.
  • Performs quality checks across the department to ensure Enterprise quality checks are providing expected results:
    • PermaSafe inspections
    • Insertion data is accurate.
    • Pole length
    • Ensures all bundling standards are being met.
  • Finished goods dock audit for appearance, packaging and accurate marking.
  • Maintains a culture of continuous improvement and support.
  • Reports possible or actual work delays to supervisor.
  • Fosters positive work relationships.
  • Observes and enforces all housekeeping, safety and plant rules, policies and procedures.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement while supporting the McWane way compass points.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has limited supervisory responsibilities; oversees the work of hourly workers in Section Preparation lines and Utility Operators.

Qualifications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 1years related experience required; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience required. Experience in a leadership capacity a plus.
