The premedical UCSF Breast Care Center (BCC) Internship Program is a highly competitive program which we offer recent college graduates the opportunity to gain 1-2 years of experience contributing to progress in basic science, clinical research, and patient care. Our vision is to sustain our program as a demonstration of a "Premedical Corps", similar in spirit to the Peace Corps or Teach for America. In such programs, young people earn a stipend while gaining experience working in areas of high need for a few years before continuing their educational and professional journeys. The Research Assistant will be part of the incoming 2026-2027 intern cohort of the BCC Internship Program. The Research Assistant's main function will be to supply support to the BCC Faculty and Project Managers. They will assist in many aspects of the Faculty/Project Manager's projects possibly including; developing independent research projects, continuing previous interns' research projects, assisting with aspects of a clinical trial, assisting with integrating patient care, and collaborating in decision making processes. Additionally, the Research Assistant will support the Patient Support Corps program. This support program features the Research Assistants deployed as health coaches and patient advocates, in particular helping connect patients with relevant information, list questions, and make notes and recordings of visits with specialists.
