Electrical Designer of Distinction | Seattle, WA

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Designer of Distinction in Seattle, Washington, to serve as a recognized technical expert in electrical building design. In this role, you will help drive team initiatives centered on technical expertise, quality, and innovation while leading quality control, innovation, and technical training efforts within the team and across IMEG. You'll also strengthen IMEG's position with clients and within the consulting industry through visible technical leadership and recognized expertise.

Principal Responsibilities

* Provide technical guidance to support project engineering needs across the team and company
* Serve as a technical resource for field issue resolution, including project site visits and independent problem-solving
* Participate in promotional activities that establish IMEG as a technical expert, including conference speaking, national technical board participation, and whitepaper/article development
* Make major design decisions and provide project design direction to the team
* Plan discipline design work for projects of all sizes and assign responsibilities to project staff
* Review correspondence prepared by less experienced staff
* Lead quality control efforts for team projects
* Contribute to IMEG's thought leadership through the Technical Operations Team
* Advise on technical challenges, analyze problems, and prepare technical reports
* Play a significant role in quality control reviews for large, complex projects
* Lead project interviews and project presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

* Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
* 18 years of experience minimum required, 20 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR
* Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
* 22 years of experience minimum required, 24 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
* Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
* Expert level mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
* Demonstrated aptitude to lead design efforts for large and highly technical projects including performing final quality control check in their area of expertise
* Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
* Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; power cable ampacity and temperature rating calculation software such as AmpCalc; and generator sizing software for major manufacturers
* Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards; proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI); and mastery of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS
* Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays

State of Washington Salary Range: $134,000.00 - $163,000.00. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
