Responsibilities

The EHR Product Owner for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) is responsible for optimizing the organization's SaaS-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) and revenue cycle ecosystem to maximize financial performance, operational efficiency, and user experience. They will also serve as a bridge between clinical billing operations and technical development teams at Newport Healthcare. This role focuses on platform configuration, workflow design, vendor management, and operational enablement-not custom software development.

Key Performance Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end RCM platform roadmap across the SaaS EHR and integrated systems.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on financial and operational impact and align platform capabilities with organizational strategy and growth objectives.
  • Own the roadmap and delivery for RCM modules such as eligibility verification, claims submission, denial management, collections workflow, and payment posting.
  • Design and optimize end-to-end RCM workflows.
  • Ensure new vendor features and system capabilities are fully integrated into business processes. Evaluate new functionality and determine adoption strategy, operational impact, and required process changes.
  • Lead development and ongoing maintenance of RCM Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure SOPs reflect current system configuration and workflows, incorporate regulatory and payer requirements, and standardize best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure configurations support behavioral health billing complexities and compliance requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and prioritization for system analysts supporting RCM initiatives; review requirements deliverables for completeness, consistency, and readiness for build/test.
  • Define and maintain reporting requirements and KPI dashboards for RCM performance, partner with data/BI teams to validate data definitions, ensure data quality, and drive actionable operational insights.
  • Integrate AI where possible for automated coding, claim scrubbing, and predicting denial risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, License Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5+ years in healthcare technology, with demonstrated experience in medical billing and/or Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations.
  • RCM Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of the claim's lifecycle, coding (ICD-10/CPT), and payer connectivity (ANSI X12 / EDI standards).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience building or owning EHR/PM products that support eligibility verification, claims submission, denial management, and payment posting (ERA/835).
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare data standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Experience with automation/AI use cases in RCM (e.g., claim scrubbing, automated coding, denial prediction).
  • Experience facilitating Scrum sessions and partnering closely with IT and QA through release cycles.
