Purpose of the Role

Through integrated, data-centric solutions and deep technical expertise, we partner with customers throughout the full lifecycle of their assets, from early consulting and engineering through commissioning, operations support, decommissioning, and remediation.

The Principal Cost Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Worley's commitment to operational excellence, project performance, and sustainable delivery outcomes. This position provides specialist leadership in project cost analysis and cost control activities across major and complex projects, ensuring accurate financial visibility, proactive reporting, and effective commercial support aligned with customer objectives and business strategy.

The role collaborates closely with project management teams, customers, engineering, procurement, construction, and site personnel to deliver reliable cost forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis that support informed decision-making and successful project execution. The Principal Cost Analyst contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, strengthens project governance practices, and supports Worley's ambition to be recognized globally as a leader in sustainability solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate project cost analysis and cost control activities across major and complex projects within the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate project cost reports, forecasts, trends, and performance analyses to support effective project execution and customer outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with project management teams, customers, and operational stakeholders on all matters relating to project cost performance and financial reporting.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support in cost management methodologies, forecasting practices, reporting standards, and project controls processes.
  • Monitor project expenditures, commitments, productivity trends, and cost performance indicators to identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis activities that support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, and sustainable project delivery outcomes.
  • Perform periodic site engagement activities to validate field reporting accuracy, assess project progress, and strengthen alignment between site operations and project controls functions.
  • Support integrated project delivery through collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure alignment of cost data and project objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of cost control systems, reporting tools, governance frameworks, and operational processes.
  • Review and validate project data to ensure consistency, accuracy, transparency, and compliance with organizational standards and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to project controls and cost analysis personnel to support capability development and knowledge sharing.
  • Support proposal development, project planning activities, and commercial reviews through the provision of reliable cost information and analytical insights.
  • Identify emerging project risks, commercial impacts, and operational trends while supporting the implementation of mitigation strategies and improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement aligned with Worley's purpose and sustainability ambitions.

Qualifications / Skill Set
  • Degree qualification in Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Controls, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience within complex project environments.
  • Significant experience in project cost analysis, cost control, project controls, financial forecasting, or commercial project support within the energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Advanced understanding of project cost management principles, forecasting methodologies, earned value practices, budgeting processes, trend analysis, and project reporting frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of integrated project delivery environments and the relationship between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex project data and develop clear, accurate, and meaningful financial insights that support operational and commercial decision-making.
  • Experience supporting major capital projects and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Advanced capability in project controls systems, reporting platforms, digital tools, data analysis methodologies, and cost management software applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify trends, evaluate risks, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within broad operational objectives while contributing to wider business and project strategies.
  • Proven capability to mentor and support team development through technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Strong commitment to operational integrity, continuous improvement, sustainability, and delivering high-quality outcomes aligned with Worley's purpose and values.
