Job purpose

The Product Manager, Seating works in conjunction with the Director of Seating to develop and implement product category strategies, drive product innovations and improvements throughout the organization. The Product Manager leads the product development processes and marketing coordination efforts of workplace, healthcare and education seating products for the US market.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Improve seating market share opportunities by collaborating in the development of products that are better than category leaders + enhancing products with new features and/or extensions.
  • Innovate the seating portfolio by redefining value, middle-market and contract industry positions with fresh design and material across all categories + verticals.
  • Direct and align category product development by defining its vision, roadmap and priorities.
  • Collaborate with Director of Seating and sales leadership to define category goals, target segments and vertical market strategies.
  • Direct product support efforts, ensuring consistent customer experience + addressing quality control trends on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with Director of Seating to translate customer, market and competitive insights into product requirements.
  • Ensure products align with growth targets, margin/pricing requirements and differentiate the brand from its competitors.
  • Collaborate with Director of Seating to develop and oversee category training and position strategies.
  • Align product strategy with marketing positioning and messaging, collaborating on go-to-market plans, launch content, communications, etc.
  • Ensure marketing assets reflect product capabilities, competitive advantages and products ability to overcome customer pain points.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of competitive library + competitive analysis documentation.
  • Develop product briefs for new seating products based upon product gaps/competitive designs; accounting for required vocabulary, range of options, price targets, product sales volume potential and competitive targets.
  • Rationalize platform opportunities between multiple the Global, Global Healthcare + Offices To Go brands.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Design or other degree from four-year college or university.
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or military equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the customer, dealer and sales process with demonstrated success and experience in customer relations and field sales.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial, risk-taking, and creative problem solving.
  • High level of written, verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate information, ideas, procedures and processes in a logical sequence; at a level appropriate to the audience and resulting in effective working relationships.
  • Successful experience working and achieving results in cross-functional teams.
  • General knowledge of furniture manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software and tools currently used in Global Furniture Group including high proficiency of PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Record of ongoing professional development strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% as needed to achieve business objectives.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Actual base pay offered will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Global, an individual may not be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. (If a bonus or commissions see below for additional sentence).
