Disability Support Services (

Reporting to the Senior Accessibility Associate, the Accessibility Associate will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinate accommodated academic exam administration for individual students with approved exam accommodations. Facilitate the administration and completion of the exams and ensure that disability-related accommodations have been met.
- Assist with all aspects of exam administration, including checking in students, ensuring that the integrity of the exam is properly maintained, printing exams, reformatting exams for accessibility as required, and monitoring time allotted for exam completion.
- Facilitate maintenance of testing center scheduling, including communication with faculty and academic partners (e.g., registrar) as required.
- Serve as a resource for student proctors and staff on the best practices for administering exams and ensuring exam integrity.
- Serve as primary staff presence at the front desk of DSS, addressing higher-level walk-in concerns, particularly as related to test administration.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques as issues arise before, during, and after exam administration.
- Work with the other DSS staff in the larger mission of collaborating with and educating University faculty, deans, administrators, families, and students about disability and learning support systems at GW
The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

| Preferred Qualifications: |
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) required; knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 preferred
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and direct experience navigating higher-education platforms, such as Banner (Registrar system) and the AIM (Accessible Information Management) database, is desired.
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work well under pressure.
- Ability to develop sensitive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents/guardians (where appropriate).
- Honest, with the highest personal and professional integrity.
- Flexible and open-minded, yet able to stand one's ground when necessary.
- Outgoing and collaborative style that fosters cooperation and involvement.
- Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive, confidential data and information is preferred.
