Job Description Summary: The Spira Care Knowledge & Communications Strategist plays an integral role with responsibilities for delivering timely and relevant communications across the Spira Care system. This individual is passionate about driving Spira Care's mission through powerful and effective communication internally with staff and externally with patients. They partner cross-functionally to drive projects and programs that advance Spira Care goals. Job Description:
  • Lead programs and projects to identify, develop and implement culturally appropriate, targeted campaigns and communication resources to patient populations spanning areas such as patient engagement, health and healthcare literacy, disease prevention, and other such topics to meet Spira Care business goals.

  • Build collaborative relationships with key decision makers in partner areas throughout the company to create strategically integrated communications plans and tactics that support business objectives.

  • Author and manage internal Spira Care employee communications, including the publication of The Compass, Spira Care's monthly internal newsletter as well as ad hoc communications.

  • Promote and build collaborative relationships to strengthen community and inter-departmental partnerships to advance Spira Care's mission and community presence and enhance understanding of Spira Care's clinical and operational goals.

  • Participate in and lead cross-functional projects and initiatives, promoting best practices for the timely and relevant exchange of information.

  • Research and disseminate information on evidence-based best practices in health promotion and education initiatives, programs, and activities in alignment with strategy and direction from Spira Care leadership.

  • Develop composition and execution of communication plans, particularly those that enhance Spira Care culture and promote Care Team well-being.

  • Continually assess information shared within and across teams to ensure knowledge of Spira Care policies and procedures is appropriately managed and accessible and usable to end users.

  • Serve as the administrator of Spira Care policies, partnering with shared service functions and key leaders. Ensure policies are reviewed and updated timely, consistent, and available to end users.

  • Manage the Spira Care SharePoint (or other designated knowledge management platform) including access management, structure, and document management. Ensure information is accessible, aligned to the needs of the users, and organized in a way that promotes clarity and understanding of Spira Care operational practices.

  • Apply quality improvement principles to advance programs across all areas of responsibility. This includes proactively evaluating materials for updates, distribution to the proper teams and communication around process changes.

  • Monitor program budgets to ensure projects are completed within budgetary guidelines.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English or any other equivalent field

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience with healthcare delivery organizations, primary care experience preferred

  • External (patient) communication experience across multiple modalities, including but not limited to email, web, printed materials, social media, etc. and the tools that support them

  • Excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading skills with working knowledge of both American Medical Association (AMA) and Associated Press (AP) Style Manuals

  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to identify and develop health education and health improvement initiatives, programs and activities appropriate for an advanced primary care practice

  • Demonstrated proficiency in condensing large amounts of information and creating timely, appropriate messages based on audience

  • Advanced communication skills - written (including strong copy-editing) and verbal - with advanced information organization, with specific ability and skill to distill dense materials to consumable information and curate resources based on audience

  • Strong project manager skills with ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities and tasks

  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations based on analytics

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SharePoint or other information sharing/file access software platform

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Background in graphic design with strong design skills
