The Business Systems Analyst serves as a key member of the IT Functional Team, providing analytical, technical, and operational support for Oracle Cloud and boundary systems. The incumbent partners with campus stakeholders to analyze business processes, define system requirements, and ensure that HR technology solutions effectively support institutional goals. The position supports configuration, data integrity, and ongoing maintenance across core ERP functions. The Business Systems Analyst serves as a techno-functional expert for UCSF's enterprise Oracle Cloud ERP platform, as well as other administrative systems supported by IT. The role acts as a key liaison between business users, IT technical teams, and Oracle support, ensuring that system configurations, integrations, and enhancements align with UCSF's operational goals, compliance standards, and financial policies. This position requires not only technical and functional ERP expertise but also strong institutional knowledge of UCSF business processes, operational structures, and policy frameworks. The analyst plays a critical role in designing, configuring, testing, and maintaining Oracle Cloud ERP solutions that support efficient, compliant, and scalable business operations across the university. Acting as the primary liaison between UCSF HR functional users, IT technical teams, and Oracle Support, the analyst ensures that Oracle Cloud HCM configurations, integrations, and enhancements are aligned with UCSF's business processes, policy frameworks, and institutional objectives. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of UCSF's HR processes, payroll structures, academic personnel policies, and compliance requirements, combined with strong technical and analytical skills to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-focused HCM solutions. Success in this role requires hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud configuration, data validation, regression testing, and issue triage, as well as proficiency in tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, BI Cloud Connect, and HCM Extracts. Experience supporting one or more Oracle Cloud HCM modules such as Core HR, Recruiting, Talent Management, Compensation, Absence Management, or HR Help Desk is essential. This position includes regular onsite work, typically 1-3 days per month. The exact schedule and frequency may be adjusted as needed to meet departmental and operational demands. Department Overview The mission of the UCSF Information Technology (UCSF IT) organization is to deliver full IT services and related systems for faculty, staff, and students, the UCSF Foundation, all University departments, and any outside entities who have a business relationship with the University.
The Information Technology Enterprise Applications team supports enterprise-wide business applications, including but not limited to PeopleSoft Financials, UCPath HCM, Allscripts procurement and payables, and other financial, supply chain, and human capital management systems. We ensure the day-to-day operation of these systems as well as the implementation of new enhancements due to organizational need.

Oracle Cloud ERP Functional Analysis and Configuration Independently work with functional stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, understand process needs, and identify how systems can support operational objectives. Apply business process and analysis expertise to define system scope and objectives that support departmental goals and technical constraints. Serve as a functional subject matter expert (SME) for assigned Oracle Cloud ERP module(s), applying system knowledge to support end-to-end business processes. Partner with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into Oracle Cloud configurations and setups that align with system capabilities and Oracle Cloud best practices. Perform system configuration within Oracle Cloud ERP to align with business needs, including workflow setup, approvals, and data structures. Identify and manage interdependencies between Oracle Cloud modules and boundary systems (e.g., UCPath, UKG, Epic). Coordinate with IT technical teams on interface requirements, data mappings, and conversions between Oracle Cloud and external systems. Manage system-level changes such as chart of accounts updates, new flex fields, lookups, or data capture configurations, ensuring proper governance and documentation. Provide Tier-2 operational support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in partnership with Oracle Cloud support and internal IT teams. Monitor quarterly Oracle Cloud releases, assess functional impacts, and coordinate regression testing and configuration updates. Contribute to Oracle Cloud training, change management, and user readiness by providing process documentation, demonstrations, and job aids as needed. Maintain system documentation including configuration records, field definitions, navigation guides, and user manuals. Act as the focal point for triaging and prioritizing system issues and enhancement requests. Monitor Oracle Cloud quarterly release updates and assess impacts on UCSF configurations and business processes. Recommend and implement process improvements leveraging Oracle best practices and new functionality. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
