NGV is hiring a Commercial Operations Director, US NGV NE. This hybrid role can sit in either our Brooklyn NY or Boston MA location

Job Purpose

The Commercial Operations Director will manage the execution of commercial strategies to drive business growth, expand market presence, and deliver strong financial performance across NGV's portfolio. The role will translate strategy into execution managing risk, timelines, and performance for commercial ventures. This includes driving governance, reporting, and delivery discipline across new NGV businesses and opportunities.

Key Accountabilities
  • Support implementation of commercial strategies aligned with company goals and market trends
  • Develop, monitor and drive workstream milestones and timelines
  • Conduct market research aligned with growth opportunities
  • Develop business plans and investment cases
  • Support investment decisions and executive presentations
  • Monitor policy and market developments, in tandem with Policy functions, to enable rapid integration into strategies
  • Collaborate across internal multiple corporate functions with particular focus on the Finance, Commercial Strategy, Risk, and Internal Governance functions in setting financial targets, developing strategic objectives, identifying business risks, obtaining requisite executive approvals and monitoring work stream performance
  • Support advancement of commercial transactions with external parties
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal partners and identified external parties
  • Provide leadership and team development as business unit grows
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years relevant energy, business or strategy experience
  • Proven commercial and/or business experience
  • Strong oral and written executive communication skills
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Ability to synthesize technical, commercial, and regulatory inputs and translate into actionable milestones
  • Strong problem-solving under uncertainty
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with digital tools and automation - Ability to integrate AI into:
      • Commercial analytics
      • PMO forecasting
      • Workflow optimization
  • Leadership and/or organizational influence experience

Salary

Downstate NY $196,000 - $230,000 a year

New England MA $182,000 - $214,000 a year

National Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring. For more information, please view NYC Local Law 144.

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
