The Expert Planning & Scheduling role oversees all aspects of project planning, scheduling, and resource management to ensure the successful, timely delivery of projects. This role involves developing strategic schedules, optimizing resource allocation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align project timelines with business objectives. The expert level will lead a team of schedulers and planners, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Scheduling:

  • Lead and manage comprehensive project schedules across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Utilize project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to create and maintain schedules, monitor progress, and update project timelines.
  • Identify critical paths, dependencies, and potential scheduling conflicts, implementing strategies to mitigate risks.

Project Oversight & Coordination:

  • Lead the planning and scheduling activities for all projects, ensuring adherence to contractual deadlines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project managers, finance, estimating, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to align project schedules with resource availability.
  • Review project plans regularly to monitor status, performance, and productivity, making adjustments as needed.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Establish best practices, standards, and methodologies for project scheduling and planning.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team and across departments.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations on project status, risks, and performance metrics for senior management.
  • Conduct regular schedule reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with project objectives.
  • Analyze schedule variances and implement corrective actions to improve project outcomes.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays and disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Support risk management processes by providing schedule forecasts, impact assessments, and scenario analyses.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive process improvements in planning and scheduling practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and optimize the use of technology and tools to streamline planning and scheduling processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in project management and scheduling.
Show your expertise

Minimum Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, IT Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, and management, with at least 2+ years in a lead role.

Preferred

  • Proven experience with scheduling software, particularly SAP platforms and Microsoft Project.
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure projects.
  • Project Management: Strong ability to manage complex schedules and align project plans with strategic objectives.
  • Analytical Thinking: Proficient in analyzing project data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Proven experience in leading teams, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying challenges and implementing solutions to optimize project schedules.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a dynamic environment.
