Description

Accountability:

This function consists of procuring direct and indirect material. Included would be all associated responsibilities such as monitoring supply base on deliveries, negotiating cost savings, identify & monitor supplier lead times & capacity to support customer needs and other duties as required to perform the above, while ensuring compliance with the Company's established quality standards and business requirements and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Typical duties/responsibilities:



  • Purchase direct and indirect material following established purchasing policies and procedures
  • Involved in the development of specifications, issues requests for quotations, responsible for investigating and identify qualified suppliers
  • Reviews, approves and issues purchase requisitions, follows up and expedites as necessary, select products for purchase, estimates values according to knowledge of market price, coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain inventory at planned levels and maintain all procurement records.
  • Responsible for complying with and documenting government regulations; FAR, Small Business Administration (SBA), Auditable Quotations
  • Participate in kaizen events that impact both the purchasing department and the business

  • Familiar with lean practices.
  • Ability to analyze cost and pricing data to ensure effective source selection
  • Ability to prepare quote packages for new and existing products.
  • Inventory controls and management.
  • Understanding of contracts, to support commercial aerospace as well as government contracts.
  • General understanding of machining, plating, shotpeen, and heat treat to support procurement activity of the same.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and the use of ERP systems (specifically Epicor)
  • Use available resources to support customer needs and expectations on both a national and international level.

Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years purchasing experience, aerospace highly preferred
  • Must be able to read and have a general understanding of customer drawings and specifications
  • Previous experience in a sole source environment and/or a manufacturing facility is preferred
