What We DoWe are seeking a technically minded Product Owner to support a team responsible for developing APIs and transactional capabilities that allow customers, partners, and internal systems to connect with our banking platform. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping translate integration, operational and platform needs into actionable delivery outcomes.
The ideal candidate has experience working with highly technical teams, understands API-based products and integrations, and can translate complex business, operational, and regulatory needs into clear product requirements. Experience with banking, payments, wire transfer workflows, transactional systems, or financial services integrations is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do: Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Partner with the product manager to execute roadmap for AP integration, wire transfer and transactional banking capabilities by translating featured priorities into actionable backlog items, technical requirements dependencies and delivery plans aligned with enterprise OKRS, regulatory expectations, security standards, customer connectivity needs and platform strategy.
- Partner with business, operations, compliance, treasury, client-facing teams, and technology stakeholders to understand business goals and client needs.
- Translate business problems and client integration into clear product requirements, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Engages customer and team members in discussion to gather feedback, build understanding, and support delivery goals. Communicate delivery progress, risks and tradeoffs to executives, stakeholders, and technical teams.
API and Integration Product Ownership
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product manager, architecture, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and well documented API-based banking capabilities that align with customer integration needs and enterprise platform standards.
- Demonstrate familiarity with REST APIs, API specifications, request and response payloads, authentication, authorization, error handling, status codes, idempotency, versioning, and integration dependencies.
- Support customers, partners, or internal consumers by helping clarify API capabilities, integration flows, documentation needs, and implementation constraints.
- Understand dependencies across core banking systems, payment platforms, wire systems, middleware, vendors, and enterprise applications.
Wire and Transactional Systems
- Support product capabilities related to wire transfers, transaction initiation, transaction status, approvals, posting, settlement, reconciliation, notifications, and exception handling.
- Help prioritize enhancements that improve transaction visibility, processing accuracy, resiliency, compliance, and customer experience.
Backlog and Agile Delivery
- Create, maintain, prioritize, and refine the product backlog, including features, user stories, defects, technical enablers, production issues, and technical debt.
- Decompose features items into actionable user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria.
- Partner with product managers, Scrum Masters, engineers, architects, analysts, QA, and operations teams during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and Program Increment planning.
- Ensure sprint goals are clearly defined and aligned with business and technical priorities.
- Validate that workflows, API specifications, sequence diagrams, technical designs, wireframes, or prototypes are reviewed before development begins.
- Own feature delivery from discovery through requirements, development, testing, acceptance, release, production validation, and post-release feedback.
Stakeholder and Customer Interaction
- Represent customer and partner integration needs during product planning and technical discussions.
- Gather feedback from API consumers, implementation teams, support teams, and business stakeholders to continuously improve API usability and product capability.
- Communicate complex technical topics in a clear, practical way to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Vendor, Risk, and Operational Management
- Monitor vendors release calendars, technical changes, release notes, enhancements, defects, and new platform capabilities.
- Assess vendor or platform changes for business, operational, technical, compliance, and integration impacts.
- Ensure product documentation, API documentation, release notes, support guides, operational procedures, and user guides are maintained.
- Support incident, defect, vulnerability, and production issue triage related to APIs, transaction processing, payment flow, and customer connectivity; ensuring change management, release communication and remediation processes are followed based on severity, risk and business impact.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role in an Agile environment.
- Experience working with highly technical software engineering teams building APIs, integrations, transactional systems, or enterprise platforms.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, API contracts, endpoints, request/response structures, JSON, authentication/authorization concepts, error handling, status codes, versioning, and API documentation.
- Experience translating business and client needs into technical requirements, user stories, process flows, and testable acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of transactional workflows, including transaction initiation, validation, approval, status tracking, exception handling, reconciliation, and auditability.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders and business context to technical teams.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar backlog and product management tools.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Additional skills that support success in this role include:
- Experience in banking, payments, wire transfers, ACH, real-time payments
- Experience with API tools such as Bruno, Postman, API documentation platforms, or developer portals.
- Familiarity with AI -enabled tools that support product discovery, documentation, analysis, or delivery workflow.
- Familiarity with security, compliance, and control concepts such as encryption, token-based authentication, audit logs, fraud controls, maker-checker workflows, and role-based access.
- Experience supporting external customer integrations, partner integrations, or developer-facing API products.
- Certifications such as CSPO, SAFe POPM, PSPO.
Pay Range: $112,400.00 - $149,800.00 Annually
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
