Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Materials Manager (Planning and Inventory) to join the Data Center Power & Control Team in Farmingdale, NY. The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end flow of materials, production scheduling, and inventory control to ensure manufacturing efficiency and on-time customer delivery.

What Will You Do?

    Plan, organize and execute activities related to planning and inventory control functions to ensure production schedules align with material availability, capacity and labor to meet customer demand
  • Maintains accurate inventory records, sets safety stock levels, and implements cycle count programs to minimize excess or obsolete inventory
  • Develop forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to manage inventory levels and reduce waste
  • Ensure the proper storage of materials using orderly, secure and systematic methods for prompt location and accurate inventory levels
  • Lead, manage and participate in physical inventories
  • Manage flow of raw materials and finished goods
  • Manage the documentation of transactions and develop inventory systems to maximize accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and standard work practices
  • Ensure a smooth transition of priorities and daily activities between shifts
  • Support team response to changing conditions such as equipment issues, staffing changes, or shifting production priorities
  • Conduct safety inspections to ensure all standards are followed and implement corrective actions
  • Supervise, coach, and develop team members to support performance and growth
  • Manage the kitting process to ensure timely availability of materials and components for production
  • Maintain the WIP (Work in Process) accuracy through the maufacturing process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Management or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in materials management and/or inventory control is required
  • Experience leading or supervising a team
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Experience with ERP system is required; SAP preferred
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing and managing numerical data
  • Ability to work collaboratively, make decisions independently while being mindful of organizational processes and guidelines
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate internally and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically, strategically and tactically while considering other functional areas
  • Must be self-motivated and driven with demonstrated ability to drive results
  • Professional, mature and collaborative interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills are required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required

Salary and Benefits: $115,000 - $125,000 base plus bonus
