Process Engineering Technician

Job Purpose: Performs technical tests and experiments for process engineering within manufacturing, focusing on mechanical assembly, box build integration, and associated printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA). Performs setup, calibration, and maintenance of assembly and processing equipment. Monitors, audits, and provides guidance to line operators. Processes test runs and prepares records, charts, and graphs of results for presentation to engineering to identify yield problems, optimize assembly workflows, or test new products. Provides technical assistance to process development and engineering personnel.

Job Duties



  • Thermal profiling of PCBs through Reflow, Wave, and Selective soldering processes.
  • Programming and configuration of SMT, Wave, Selective, Thru-hole, Press-fit, and Conformal Coating machinery.
  • Support and optimize mechanical assembly and box build lines, including the setup and validation of pneumatic tools, smart torque systems, and custom assembly fixtures.
  • Develop and maintain assembly line layouts, work cells, and material presentation flows to optimize mechanical throughput.
  • Run monthly validation of both SMT and mechanical assembly equipment.
  • Provide technical support to all projects, perform root cause analysis on electromechanical assembly defects, and work to eliminate failures.
  • Develop and provide support to process development, driving continuous improvement (Kaizen/Lean) in existing box build and SMT workflows.
  • Monitor all assembly processes with the goal of resolving line stoppages in a timely manner, reducing downtime.
  • Coordinate with production teams at all times, maintaining clear and open lines of communication.
  • Analyze yield and defect data to improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of the work environment.
  • Maintain a database of assembly recipes, torque specifications, thermal profiles, pastes, and fluxes.
  • Work with and maintain the CMMS system for preventative maintenance tracking of all assembly assets.
  • Handle all chemical requests and evaluations (e.g., adhesives, thermal interface materials, fluxes, potting compounds).
  • Repair and maintain mechanical fixtures, assembly jigs, and automated equipment.
  • Perform duties as assigned by management.


Physical Demands & Work Environment



  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and bend for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, handle, and manipulate mechanical sub-assemblies and chassis components as required.


Education and Experience



  • Associate's Degree, 2-year Technical Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of electromechanical assembly, box build processes, and PCBA manufacturing.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment and be self-directed.
  • Results and Quality Oriented.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.
