Job Purpose

The role is responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned warehousing operations personnel to safely, effectively, and efficiently accomplish job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid requirements. Perform/supervise all daily SAP transactions necessary to effectively manage warehouse operations and comply with National Grid inventory management policies/procedures and SOX audit control requirements. This role will be onsite at our Liverpool, NY location.

Key Accountabilities
  • Create a culture of safety, where employees understand that safety is our #1 priority. Perform all annually required effective safety discussions and compliance assessments.
  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling, and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate and/or lead performance hub discussions with the workforce to promote safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform/supervise all required SAP transactions (receipts, put-away, picks, issues, transfers, cycle counts, warehouse daily monitor, etc.) to support the daily warehouse operational requirements.
  • Conduct or lead cause and corrective action (CCA) for warehouse transactions that lead to inventory integrity failures and ensure sustainability of program.
  • Contribute to the protection of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring all materials, standards and procedures are in line with National Grid safety policies and processes.
  • Provide support to internal and external stakeholders to comply with established service level agreements (SLA's) and other customer expectations.
  • Collate information to ensure operational activity is in line with external regulations, audits, and ensure more senior team members have accurate and up to date information as required.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
  • Monitor and assess team working practices to ensure they are compliant with regulations, standards, and best practices relating to their area.
  • Oversee the operational workload of the workforce; ensuring allocated staff is fully utilized to deliver against agreed program of work.
  • Promote and implement best practices within the staff to ensure compliance with National Grid policies, regulatory requirements and departmental goals/objectives.
  • Perform training on required departmental topics to ensure staff is fully trained to departmental and company standards.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement related principles or committed to 'on the job' training programs with practical experience of methods, processes and techniques relevant to area or discipline.
  • Technically proficient within subject matter, and experience leading a team involved in transactional operational services, in both routine and emergency conditions.
  • Knowledge of project management methods with experience leading projects and/or working within groups to complete projects

Preferred:

  • A bachelor's degree and related experience in warehousing, material planning, supply chain, and/or materials procurement - experience in lieu of degree
  • SAP Supply Chain experience, IMWM desired, with ability to perform all transactions required to support warehouse (WM) operations.
  • Have a good working knowledge of tools and systems within the designated area, as well as knowledge of materials and their application in the gas and/or electric utility industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in labor relations and effective labor contract administration/optimization.
  • Knowledge and experience in storm restoration and emergency management.

Salary

$95,000 - $125,000 a year
