Job Profile

The CloudOps Manager will lead the operational cloud management, and will be responsible for governance, reliability, security, and cost optimization of the enterprise AWS cloud environment. Job functions will include establishing scalable cloud operational practices, driving infrastructure automation, enabling DevOps and CI/CD adoption, strengthening operational governance, and ensuring platform stability across all environments. This role requires individual to lead triage and resolution for production incidents that involve AWS cloud instances.

The role serves as the operational backbone of the cloud organization, partnering closely with Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Security, DevOps, FinOps, SRE, and application delivery teams to ensure AWS environments are secure, resilient, cost-optimized, and operationally mature.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on AWS operational expertise with leadership capabilities, governance discipline, automation mindset, and enterprise-scale operational experience.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Operations & Infrastructure Management



  • Lead day-to-day AWS cloud operations across multi-account enterprise environments.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure stability, availability, scalability, and operational health.
  • Oversee provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and operational support for AWS workloads.
  • Establish standardized operational procedures for development, staging, and production environments.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, backup strategies, and operational resilience.


Cloud Governance & Operational Standards



  • Implement and enforce enterprise cloud governance policies and operational standards.
  • Partner with Cloud Architecture teams to operationalize enterprise cloud frameworks and best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, access management, and infrastructure policies.
  • Drive operational discipline across cloud environments through standardized processes and automation.


Monitoring, Reliability & Incident Management



  • Implement application and infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational observability practices.
  • Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, and operational remediation.
  • Drive operational SLAs, uptime targets, and platform reliability initiatives.
  • Lead major incident response coordination across infrastructure and application teams.


Cost Optimization & FinOps Partnership



  • Partner with FinOps leadership to optimize AWS cloud consumption and reduce operational waste.
  • Ensure application AWS budgets are not exceeded and management rigorously
  • Monitor utilization trends, identify optimization opportunities, and drive remediation initiatives.
  • Implement tagging standards, operational reporting, and cost accountability practices.
  • Support sustainable cloud growth while maintaining operational efficiency.


Security & Access Management



  • Ensure strong operational controls for AWS IAM, role-based access, and environment segregation.
  • Support implementation of least-privilege access models and production access restrictions.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance teams on audits, vulnerability remediation, and operational risk management.


Leadership & Team Management



  • Build and lead a high-performing CloudOps organization.
  • Mentor cloud engineers and operational staff on AWS best practices and operational excellence.
  • Drive collaboration across Cloud Engineering, Architecture, DevOps, Security, and Application teams.
  • Act as a key operational leader during modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of IT infrastructure and cloud operations experience.
  • 5+ years managing AWS cloud environments at enterprise scale.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:


    • AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch, Route53, etc.)
    • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
    • CI/CD platforms and DevOps automation
    • Monitoring and observability platforms
    • AWS Organizations and multi-account strategies


  • Experience implementing cloud governance and operational frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, networking, and operational best practices.
  • Experience managing production support and incident management processes.
  • Strong communication and executive stakeholder management skills.



Preferred Qualifications



  • AWS Professional Certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, Security Specialty, etc.)
  • Experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization initiatives.
  • Experience operating enterprise-scale multi-account AWS organizations.
  • Experience supporting AI/ML or high-scale data platforms in AWS.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS and containerized workloads.
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments with strong governance requirements.

This role can be based in our Washington, DC or Columbus, OH office. A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is:

For DC- $170,000-$190,000

For OH: $150,000-$170,000

ACS employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work week, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.
