Job Summary:

The Program Coordinators for Residential & Academic Engagement (RAE) provide essential support in the day-to-day functioning of the residential college program and special interest community at Northwestern. Reporting to the Assistant Director, each Program Coordinator serves as the primary advisor for 3-4 residential college or special interest executive boards and serves as a key collaborator with the Faculty Chairs of each college or staff leader the special interest community. In addition to advising, the Program Coordinators support academic initiatives within the RAE portfolio, specifically working with strategic Initiatives including the Litowitz Center for Enlightened Disagreement (LCED), the PATH program, and the Institute for Adolescent Health & Well-Being.

Pay Range: The pay range for the Program Coordinator is $58,000 - 60,000 depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Principal Accountabilities:

Student Organization Advising

• Serves as the primary advisor for 3-4 student executive boards within a residential college or special interest community, ensures successful implementation of programming and management of budget
• Works directly with student leaders on the executive boards through one-on-one meetings, attending events and executive board meetings
• Manages building-level student leadership initiatives within the residential experience in conjunction with the Assistant Director
• In collaboration with Residential Experience team, develop on-going opportunities for student leaders to engage in leadership development opportunities
• Coordinate executive board election timelines, processes, and logistical details in collaboration with the faculty and student leaders
• Support communities and students with marketing and communications efforts including, but not limited to website maintenance, social media, and newsletters
• Liaise with the Student Organization Finance Office to ensure that student accounts are up to date and necessary processes are followed

Program Development & Support

• Manage day-to-day operations of the residential college and special interest community in collaboration with the Assistant Director, including updates to shared resource sites and manuals
• Contribute to the continued support of the community by meeting regularly with the faculty/staff leader of the community and Residential Experience team members
• Work with the Director to coordinate support and logistics for strategic partnerships, including the residential cohorts of LCED
• Helps manage the operational needs of residence-based strategic partnerships, including distribution of LCED residential cohorts, space management, catering coordination, among other needs
• Be present for residence-based partnerships, such as assigned LCED cohort modules throughout the academic year

Residential Experience & Personal Development

• Serve as a contributing member of Residential Experience committee
• Organize student activities in collaboration with other members of the Residential Experience team, including presence and involvement in student engagement activities (e.g. Wildcat Welcome, Student Move-In, Wildcat Days, Commencement, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
• 1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience

Minimum Competencies:

• Knowledge and understanding of collegiate student housing
• Strong problem-solving skills in the context of interpersonal and group relations, strong analytical skills, and strong oral communication skills
• Ability to manage information, ongoing correspondence, and scheduling

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or a related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
• Two or more years (at least one in a role working with residential learning communities, academic and/or non-residential learning communities, academic bridge programs, academic program enhancement or academic support programs) in a university housing operation.
• Experience working with faculty
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
